This is my guide to Ymir which i have built by examining guides on here and adding what i believe to be some simple touches here and there. Ymir is a Strong lane partner great at holding a enemy long enough for a Teammate to swoop in and finish the target or as bait with his high health. He can be an excellent late game pusher and an expert poke/harasser early game. he can even manage a mid lane with pure survival in a worst case only. All that with the most simple build I have played with.
I start with Meditation and Sprint these allow you to cast almost without worry and sprint allows early game escapes or mid game surprise freeze ganks. Potions are a most you are expected to hold you lane with out fault and allow your teammate to back for items or gank lanes. Boots on him are standard nothing fancy just reinforced for cc reduction extra tank stats. This step of the item build is a what am I facing right now if its Melee get the Breastplate if magic get the Stone. After that get the other even without multiple of that damage type the extras on both make them amazing items for Ymir. After that I like to get Rod if i'm not worried with enemy damage, Which is usually the case as long as there is no feeding. After this its a flexible build but Void stone is a favorite then Mystical mark. Last item is totally up to you I very rarely see that point in games but its usually a offensive item.
I get Frost Breath first it gives alot of fun chances during early gank tactic or counter-gank for protecting a jungle. I then bring my Glacial Strike up to four with only 1 in each other skill. I then bring up Frost Breath cause at 4 it will make ulting targets easy with almost no possiblity for escape (except those stupid jumps and dashes). your wall is more dangerous at higher levels for both your enemies and your allies, Do some practice with them 1 bad wall and a team will turn you into a pin cushion for insults).
CONS
- Walls (easy to fail with)
- Weak melee
- Easily dodged ult and main Damage attack
- Steep learning curve
PROS
- Walls (super escape killer)
- Strong Magic
- Huge Damage on ult and Ground attack
- Strong AE stun
