Hey guys, This is a good build regarding having some nice defense whilst retaining the damage that ymir can put out. These items should do the trick for you after putting some good practice in with him. It will take time to get used to! May I remind you this is a custom build i created in jungle practice and will take time for it to work for you if it does, If not I recommend finding what works for you in the practice mode that Smite offers.
Now starting out with the items.
[Shoes of Focus] Will allow us 3 things. This is going to boost our CD Reduction (Cool Down)
And allow us to get more stuns off and importantly more abilities overall. Walls for saves, spikes for slows ETC. It will also offer us some movement speed and magical power which are things we definitely don't wanna pass up. While the [Shoes of the Magi] work good too, They are for a bigger idea of a straight damage build whilst this build falls a bit in the middle.
The [Breastplate of Valor] This will protect us from the assassin/ Hunter and also allow us a few more things. Aside from the self explanatory 75 Physical Protection, This plate offers us 550 mana allowing for 3-5 stuns and also 25% CD reduction. MAXING our CD reduction very early allowing us to pop lots of Spikes walls and Stuns which should be used as often as possible at the most convenient times.
The [Stone of Gaia] Gives us 100 health which is nothing to complain about, Magical Protection, MP AND HP REGEN. This item CAN be swapped out for another magical item that works better for you but this is what works best for me.
Now for the damage items
[Soul Reaver] Is honestly, Just a beast overall. With this piece of equipment You walk up, Freeze, Spikes and smack em once or twice with your auto attacks and as long as they haven;t built against you they should be at least around 50% HP.
As for [Void Stone] This is another item that can be swapped out if your getting cleaved by mele. This is just to simply get in on those pesky mages and cleave them down as quickly as possible. This item can be swapped out for [ETHEREAL STAFF] or a similar item.
Our last item [ROD OF TAHUTI] Is just to simply improve our [Soul Reaver] Damage making it for a HUGE hit. With all the magical power packed in this thing along with the passive, it's too good to pass up whilst building for some sort of damage.
For our skills we'll be covering our 4 abilities.
Our [ICE WALL] can be used in many ways, While it will take time to master this new found ability it can be very useful, Just ignore your teammates complaining about how they died or lost their kills when you blocked their way of walking, They've just had a bad day and you becoming a pro with ymir isn't making it any better.
[GLACIAL STRIKE] This ability can be used to smack damage with [Soul Reaver] as mentioned above or can actually be used to SAVE allies, If you are near them use your spikes on the enemy chasing your ally and literally, if you've build defensively or you know you can escape, JUMP IN FRONT OF THEM. Warning: Enemy team will NOT be happy about this. [GREATER SPRINT]
Now for our stun, [FROST BREATH] This pro and con of this ability is it stuns AND does damage. Though the damage is good, This uses our [Soul Reaver] and puts it on CD for another 60 seconds.
Now for our insane finisher [SHARDS OF ICE] This ability is devastating when charged up to the right degree. The way I like to use this ability is I like to stun, spikes and I actually run INFRONT of the enemy, I'll even wall sometimes if there are enemys in front of me blocking them from attacking, I'll then walk INFRONT of them, Blocking their walking along with the slow from the spikes and begin to charge my ult releasing it before they walk out or even getting a fully charge out before they escape. If they have a way to escape EA combat blink or some similar ability I would recommend letting it off early to be sure it isn't wasted, This will be up to you to determine.
Well that's how I win my games usually, Doing all this damage while taking it is a very AWESOME feat and if learned right can be used VERY effectively with team play/
Jungling is possible with ymir, I actually LOVE to do it in conquest. Ill talk about this soon and add a build in for it if any of you are interested in learning about this, Your teammates will be a bit sketchy at first, But after reading this guide I think you'll be ready for it :)
Working with your team is very important, By this I mean setting up as many kills for them as possible, Though you will have allot of damage it's still good to let people get kills here and there to help them out. Stunning and spikes usually leaves the enemy VERY hurt, Even throwing a wall up behind them will just add to the pudding. If you are playing with Ares. When he chains Aim your stun where he is chaining then stun, Spikes and charge your ult, Presuming you have your stun all the way leveled this should pretty much finish off the enemies that areas pulled if he uses his flames as well.
