Ymir is a great initiator as well as a god peeler. His stun both sets up kills and saves your teammates which is why I build so focused on cool-downs. You want to focus on keeping your teammates alive so do not use your Frost Breath too much, but also do not be afraid to engage with it if you think you and your carry can kill the opposing god.
This build focuses on health and cool-downs but don't be surprised by your damage. Void-stone and ethereal staff both hit pretty hard. But the main thing is all the health as well as ample protections. You are a true guardian that both saves your team and almost never dies. I have also build other items than mail of renewal. You can exchange it for bulwork of hope or magi's blessing and still do very well.
Use your Frost Breath then Glacial Strike for your main combo on Ymir. I use Frost Breath and glacial strike to burn their Escape then punish them with the wall and ultimate. Your Ice Wall is very good initiate with because it allows you to get close. When using your ult always use your main combo first because your Glacial Strike will slow them as well as the slow your ultimate. Also use your wall to keep them inside for max damage.

Always try to save your team before yourself because if a guardian is under leveled he can still be useful with his CC but an under leveled carry is almost useless. Make sure not to use your Frost breath too much early game because it has a very long cool-down,and it is needed to peel off enemies for your team.
You have a decent lane clear but the only buff u want is the penetration buff. You want to avoid being alone in the enemies jungle due to your bad mobility. Also it it your job to have wards up which i only do this after my first back, but if u have teleport put one down very early then another right before you back. You need to migrate mainly between mid lane and duo lane but if your solo needs help and you have the ability try to help him as well. Going for back harpies too much takes xp from your jungler but they respawn quickly so take them if you know he wont be there for a while.
The most important thing you do is to save your team. If you can save a teammate by dying it is worth it. Unless he is very under leveled and your a higher level. Then if you die the enemy gets more xp and gold. I digress in the end just protect your team and they will protect you.
