1. Introduction

Hello there !

I'm Guldir aka Guldirn the (almost) only Guan yu main since S1 and I'm here to make my first (and surely only) guide on how to play a god and win games.
So let's start directly by explaining the skill order I recommend for this build.
And remember you don't have to follow this guide exactly,I'm just showing you one of the many ways you can play guan yu :)

2. Skill order

First of all always level your ult when you can it MUST be a priority because it is the hardest hitting physical ability in the game with 1575 base damage with 270% scaling at rank 5. Source.

You will often want to max your Taolu assault first because of the armor you steal to your opponents and the damage you deal with it.

Then you will want to max your dash in second for damage, however, if you can't stick to your target during your 3, leveling your dash first might be better.

Finally, you will want to max your heal in last because guan yu's heal is almost useless if you want to build for damage, you only want to put one point in it LV3 to get the 2 sec cooldown reduction when you heal an ally.

Your clash builds are very squishy and have no mana sustain.

Yep, the goal is to burst ennemies down, so of course you're gonna be squishy, for mana you just need to take blue potions or the blue buff

This worries me as in a lot of clash and arena games you will see only one tanky character. if you're going a high damage build you either need to win by snowballing harder than your opponent as otherwise you will lose most teamfights as their damage dealers will kite and kill you meanwhile their tank will still be at decent health to control the teamfight.

Shield of regrowth is a good item on due to the extra movement speed it provides when you heal and the extra health and CDR help as well.

Id skip the jotunn in Assault. You need more anti heal. If you buy Breastplate, you'll want to follow up with pestilence. If you bought genji guard, you'll want to follow up with contagion.

I agree with boogie here. If you do want CDR you can better fit or in the build after a dedicated magical protection. The damage from jotunn's is not going to do much with you lvling heal to max.

I am also missing the mention of and . The first for it's the regen aura's (which is Hp5 therefore not affected by anti heal) and the second being the best tank item in the game when stacked.

Also, maybe skip the meditation since guan has a group heal?

guan's heal is quite weak compared to the other healer gods and even with BoV early he will still run out of mana early. You can, however you will have to rely on your teammates meds more.

I usually only skip out on med if I have someone that makes great use out of blink (, etc.) or if I see more use for as I won't be spending a lot of mana (and most of my teammates having med already).

Skip the potions in arena. Just go back to base.

Even in arena an early Hp potion can see some good use as "pre-potting" is a thing. I do agree with the mana potions they are worthless there.
