Bow abilities:
X: A straight arrow that fires through enemies amd pierces gods, dealing quite a bit of damage. Good for clearing minions and fighting teams.
A: Powers up Ullr and his bow, making his other abilities and basic attacks deal mpre damage.
B: A small area is hit with a group of arrows that requires tons of precision to use, but is good on enemies who are running, and to finalize a kill.
Axe abilities:
X: Throws a singular axe, and hitting a god with it stuns them momentarily, offering a moment to run away or initiate combat.
A: Powers up his axes, similar to his bow.
B: Ullr's only escape option, a large leap that has an AoE effect of damage.
Ultimate Y: Weapon change, Ullr pulls out his bow or axe. This ultimate doesn't need levels to use, but leveling it up gives each weapon a bonus. The bow gets an attack speed upgrade, and the axes get lifesteal. Both gain 5% per level.
Ullr is very versatile. He is a hunter and a warrior packed into one character, at the cost of a proper ultimate. The ultimate he has also triggers his passive, which speeds up cooldowns for his other stance. This passive isn't the most useful thing on the planet, but there are certainly worse passives. But again, this allows him to be a versatile fighter, able to take on Guardians and Assassins alike, due to his spacing and ability to run into melee combat. Buying Transcendence and lifesteal is huge for this character because he has no defense whatsoever. Lifesteal allows him to box with big characters, and physical power keeps him alive. His major strength is in his ability to change his style whilst still getting the same benefits (i.e. Lifesteal and attack speed). Allow me tp delve a little further into the character without so much writing. Enjoy the guide. I will continue to update the guide, and if you see something that doesn't quite make sense, or any point where I could have been clearer, let me know.
Pros of Ullr:
-Versatile, can fight many types of character with no major exploitable weakness
-Able to fight characters who deal way more damage than him
-Able to fight characters with way more health than him
-Has 6 abilities, so mix ups are strong, and he has many options
-If melee isn't going well, he can retreat with his bow
-Can play defense and offense when he needs to
-Late game deals more damage than he can lose
However, Ullr's versatility coems at a steep price, of one specific strength. Ullr can fight anyone, but doesn't particularly excel at any one thing. So here are his main problems.
Cons of Ullr:
-Only one, rather mediocre, escape
-Has a hard time dealing with assassins before he has lifesteal
-Can not leave the lane early game because he needs levels to stay competitve, even one level can make him ineffective
-Squishy, if your opponent hits you first they typically win
-No ultimate
-No crowd controls with his bow
-Extremely high skill cap, as all of his moves require extreme precision
-Highest cooldown times in the game, so switching back and forth is necessary
Ullr, being the beautiful and versatile beast he is, can deal with just about anything except for guardians. He struggles against Guardians in all levels of the game because he doesn't deal enough damage to heal himself enough to keep fighting them. His axes will allow him to last longer, but it's not with it to fight Ymir or Ares, because being near them gives them an advantage. Assassins can also be a chore, but depending on how much damage you deal, you will likely be able to outlast them because of their notoriously terrible health bar. Just be careful, and know when to use your bow.
Honestly, I don't use the bluestone pendant, but if I had to pick any of the starter items for Ullr, it would be the pendant, because it helps him beat minions and level up faster. It doesn't deal too much damage to gods, but if you really need a starter item, pendant.
Reinforced Greaves (1400 gold)
15 Physical Power
150 Health
30% Reduction in Crowd Control effects
18% Movement speed up
You can buy these right from the start, and I love these boots. They give Ullr some early game power, speed, and health while also cutting crowd control stuns, giving him much more sustain.
Transcendence (2600 gold)
35 Physical Power
300 mana
5 MP5
Passive- You gain 15 mana per stack, 5 stacks for a god kill and 1 per minion kill. (Max 50 stacks). Additionally, 3% of your mana is converted into physical power (Which is HUGE)
This is going to give Ullr a gigantic power boost. Along with mana, which helps his mana hungry play. There isn't much to say except that this item is amazing.
Devourer's Gauntlet (2050 gold) BUY THIS BEFORE THE GOLDEN BOW
25 Physical power
10% Physical Life steal
Passive- You gain .20 Physical Physical life steal and .4 Physical Power per stack. You earn 5 stacks per god kill and 1 stack per minion kill. (Max 75 stacks)
Buy this before the Golden Bow. This piece of equipment is vital to have maxed out before the end of the game because you will gain 25 physical power and 15% Physical life steal, both of which are HUGE for Ullr.
Golden Bow (2330 gold)
35 Physical Power
15% Critical Chance
5% Movement Speed
Passive- Hitting your basic attack sends out a 15 unit shockwave that deals 50% of your damage to all surrounding enemies.
THe Golden Bow is important, but not as important as your previous weapons. It gives Ullr another great jump in power, and the passive absolutely helps. It helps clear out minions and attack gods who are trying to hide within a crowd. It also helps when you are boxing a god and trying to gain more life, as the shockwave also gives you health.
Bloodforge (2250 gold)
40 Physical Power
15% Physical Life steal
Passive- Whenever your basic attack hits, you gain 5 Physical Power 3% Physical life steal for 4 seconds with a maximum of 3 stacks.
This piece helps with your life gain and power. If you're plucking away at someone with your bow, then your bow gets stronger over time, and your life will come right back to your bar.
Deathbringer (3150 gold)
50 Physical Power
20% Critical chance
Passive- Critical damage is increased by 40%
This is your final leap. With the Deathbringer, your power will be almost unmatched on the battlefield, and you win. Yea, you win. Your health bar should never go below half, you can box teams and maybe win, shooting your bow will be scarier than most god's ultimates.
Greater meditation and the creeping curse are optional, and all they do is assist your sustain and help you finish off kills. If you can't afford them, the world won't cave in, but they are just a few more advantages for Ullr.
