Introduction

Hello everybody! It's BeardlessBeard here with my first ever god guide!!! I'd been looking through a lot of the Nemesis guides here on SMITEFire and I realized that while I liked aspects of some of the guides, I didn't totally agree with any of the final builds. A lot of times enemies would just walk away after I had used my ult or my 2 and there was no way for me to keep up. I had a hard time securing kills, so I started tinkering with the builds here on SMITEFire and came up with my own build! It's my first guide so suggestions and comments are very much appreciated. Thanks for reading! I want to give a shoutout to deathsticker and his Nemesis guide. I pulled a few ideas from his wonderful guide so if you don't like mine check his out!

What's a Nemesis?

Of arrogance and pride, the Greeks have but one word: hubris. It is a crime against Gods and Men, but a crime many commit with impunity. Even mighty Zeus is guilty. But when punishment is due, there is one from whom even the God of Thunder shrinks. She is Nemesis, the red-washed blade of Divine Retribution.

Recall the tale of Narcissus, so taken by his own beauty. Proudly, his visage was flaunted, to the detriment of all. Until, at last, he was led to a pond of crystal hue where his own reflection enraptured him. So long did he remain to gaze upon this self-image that hunger claimed his life. Thus does Nemesis respond to hubris. It is consequence equal to the crime.

Now, behold the war torn land, beset by the wrath of wanton Gods filling the air with blood and boasts. This battlefield is stained with hubris. Unwittingly, these foolish warriors have summoned their greatest adversary. Nemesis has come!

No longer will foul deeds engender success, no hoard of wealth held in undeserving hands, no legends told when falsely earned. Nemesis will unleash a tide of retribution. Punishment for the crime of hubris is death.

From Dictionary.com
nemesis
1.
something that a person cannot conquer, achieve, etc.
2.
an opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
3.
(initial capital letter) Classical Mythology. the goddess of divine retribution.
4.
an agent or act of retribution or punishment.
You'll pretty much be all 4 of these things if you follow this guide.

Pros & Cons

Pros
VERY mobile
Great 1 on 1 fighter
Swift Vengeance can be used to escape or pursue
Can 100-0 the bulkiest of characters with her ult
Awesome skin (Red Vengeance)
FREE if you're willing to spend 30 minutes playing jetpack fighter

Cons
VERY squishy
Bad in team fights
If she gets CC'd she's as good as dead

Abilities

Swift Vengeance

This is best used as your escape, although you can use it to chase. If you're going to use it to chase, you need to make sure you've got an alternate way of escaping or don't need to escape. You'll almost always want to use both dashes, unless you're chasing and one dash puts you in perfect position for the kill. Unfortunately, if you use another ability after your first dash, then you lose the second dash. However, you can auto attack if you just need a LITTLE more damage. Level this last.

Slice and Dice

This is your goto (and only) attack move. Against squishies, you can use this move to initiate and secure the kill with auto attacks. Against tanks, you'll wanna use your ult and then follow up with this move. Slice and Dice is also great for slowing down an enemy that's JUST out of reach of your basic attacks. It can also be used to clear jungle camps and is her only ability that can clear waves (although there's an item that helps with clearing waves). Level this first.

Retribution

This works kind of like sanctuary, except better. You protect yourself from a set amount of damage, heal off some of the damage you take, AND reflect some of the damage back on the target. This is great for surviving team fights and living through that last blow that should kill you. Level this second.

Divine Judgment

This ult is what makes nemesis amazing!!! It acts as penetration, gives you some nice protections, and at max level halves the current hp of the god you target. Because of this you'll typically want to target gods with full hp in order to get the maximum benefit. It's great for taking down tanks and assisting your teammates from afar. Note: Just because you use divine judgment on someone doesn't mean that's the person you have to target. You could use divine judgment on the opponent's supp and take out their ADC first before coming back for the supp.

Scales of Fate

This is Nem's passive. Each basic attack you land reduces the target's power by 4% and increases your power by 4%. This is the reason why she's the queen of auto attacks. They're her bread and butter and if you're not slicing and dicing with that huge sword of her's, then you ain't doing it right.

Items

Warrior Tabi vs Ninja Tabi

This is really a tough one and it's honestly up to your playstyle more than anything. I prefer ninja tabi more often than warrior tabi because my build focuses more on auto attacks. However, you really can't ever go wrong with warrior tabi, especially if you're planning on building qin's sais, the executioner, and ichaival because you don't want to over upgrade your attack speed.

Hastened Fatalis

This item is what separates my build from every other Nem build out there. Building hastened fatalis as your 2nd item allows you to chase down the fastest of enemies and keeps them from just walking away from you while you're in the middle of killing them. Buying it 2nd gives you the ability to secure kills very quickly in the game. You might think this is pointless considering Slice and Dice already slows your target. However, you can now use Slice and Dice when your enemy is very far away from you and hastened fatalis allows you to catch up and kill them WITHOUT USING YOUR ULT!!! It's also pretty good at helping you clear waves and since Nem has no reliable way to clear minion waves, anything helps. Note: A lot of the other items we're going to discuss benefit from getting in at least 3 basic attacks. Furthermore, your passive is only effective if you're connecting with basic attacks, which makes this item all the more useful.

Jotunn's Wrath

On an auto attack build, an item like jotunn's wrath doesn't make much sense at first. However, that 20% CDR is still really nice. When playing arena, you can sometimes hit them with Slice and Dice, chase them with Swift Vengeance, and then finish them with another Slice and Dice, and use Swift Vengeance to escape!

Ichaival

Now we're getting into uncharged territories. I was trying to build Nem with items that would not only help her auto attacking and make her a great boxer, but also increase her chances of surviving multiple fights or even a team fight. Ichaival is a great item for boxing and it steals your opponent's power from items and grants 10 physical power to you. You'll quickly max out the stacks for this item, meaning any god you're fighting 1 v 1 won't hit you as hard and you'll start hitting harder.

Bloodforge

This item gives Nem a much better chance to survive in team fights if she can get that first kill and allows her to pursue multiple targets and string off multiple kills.

Stone Cutting Sword

This is very similar to ichaival in that it steals stuff from your opponent and gives it to you, but this time, we're stealing protections. This gives her a better chance to survive team fights and all that jazz and for this build serves as her pen item.

The Executioner

This is a better pen option. You can replace ichaival or stone cutting sword with the executioner if the opponents' protections are keeping you from getting kills.

Qin's Sais

If your opponent has a LOT of health, grab this.

Rage and Deathbringer

If you want even more damage output, try these two items together. However, you'll be sacrificing a lot of survivability and I personally only buy these when my opponents are garbage and I just wanna watch them die really fast. You can get rage without deathbringer, but i wouldn't get deathbringer without rage.

Hydra's Lament or Breastplate of Valor

If you want to go for more of a CDR build, pick one of these up. I don't think CDR is the best way to play Nem but I am by no means an expert.

Frostbount Hammer

If you STILL can't keep up with enemies after buying hastened fatalis then you should probably just play another character. You can try using this item, but honestly there jsut isn't much hope for you (In all seriousness this is a sub for hastened fatalis. This gives you more survivability but I think hastened fatalis is a MUCH better option.).

Relics

Purification

Unless the enemy gods you're up against have very little CC, you should ALWAYS get this first. CC kills Nem's best escape tool and she is so squishy that if she stays still even for a few seconds, shes probably dead.

Sprint

You can't ever go wrong with sprint. It gives you an alternative to swift vengeance and allows you to escape or chase.

Curse

If you're up against enemies who heal a lot, this can help you stop their healing and secure the kill. If you pick this, I'd be sure to hold on to swift vengeance for escaping.

Sanctuary

Kind of redundant since we already have retribution. However, retribution only absorbs a set amount of damage, so this will help us against some of the stronger ult's in the game.

Tips and Combos

    Just keep moving
    just keep moving
    just keep moving, moving, moving
what do we do we move, move, move
Against tankier opponents, you should always start off with your ult.
If the enemy is moving to fast you should use Slice and Dice to slow them down so you can catch up.
You don't always have to use Divine Judgment and Slice and Dice. Most times it only takes one or the other against squishier opponents.
You have tons of items and a passive that benefits from landing auto attacks, so fit in as many as possible.
    Chasing Combo: 1, 1, AA, AA, 2, AA(until dead), 3 (wait for 1 to recharge), 1, 1
There really isn't many set combos with Nem since only one of her moves does damage.

Stages

Early Game

Nem isn't great here. She can struggle to secure kills and really only becomes effective once she gets to lv 5 and buys hastened fatalis.

Mid Game

This is when Nem really excels. Pop in and out of the jungle and gank away!

Late Game

Like most squishy assassins, Nem's late game falls off because she's not the best team fighter, but we've done as much as we can to make her survive!

Conclusion

Thanks for reading my guide! Please leave suggestions in the comments on how I can make the guide better and upvote if this build works for you! I got Nem for free by playing Jetpack Fighter so if you're new to the game and you wanna try an assassin other than Thor, download the game! You don't have to play the game for that long to unlock Nem and it's honestly a pretty entertaining mobile game.
