Introduction

Greetings all, I've been playing Smite for a while and have tested many gods out but one I can thoroughly enjoy to play is definitely Odin. You can build him in so many different ways that fit almost all the play styles of the game that he is a very enjoyable character.

Odin The Allfathers Lore

Mightiest of the Aesir, warrior and king, the All-Father is a doomed God.

It seems strange to imagine a God concerned with his fate, but Odin regularly consults the volva, the seers in the North. They speak of a final war, Ragnarok, when the mightiest Gods are slain and the world is consumed by the sea. For this day, Odin constantly prepares.

The All-Father can trace his lineage to the evil Frost Giant, Ymir, whom he slew with the aid of his two brothers, Vili and Ve, and with his remains forged the world. Atop Asgard, where Odin presides, he is known as the bringer of war, a sage of wisdom, and the keeper of souls slain in battle.

As a warrior, Odin rides his eight legged steed, Sleipnir, and wields the mighty spear Gungnir. Accompanying him are two wolves and his trusted ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), who fly around Midgard and return to Odin with all they see and hear.

As a Sage, Odin travels disguised as a simple wanderer, seeking wisdom. His thirst for knowledge has come at great personal cost, having been hanged from the branches of Yggdrasil, the world tree, for nine days and nights and sacrificed one of his eyes to the Well of Wisdom.

As keeper of souls, Odin welcomes slain warriors to his mighty hall of Valhalla on the agreement they will aid him to Ragnarok. Favored female warriors become his elite Valkyrie that usher those worthy of entry to Valhalla.

It is in preparation for the final days of Ragnarok he does all this. For the seers claim his death will come at the fangs of the great wolf Fenrir, and like anyone, Odin seeks to change his fate. Yet, never once have the volva been mistaken.

Cooldown: 75 s.

Creeping / Jungling

Now when I play Odin I tend to casually jungle, I'm in the lane 80% of the time but it doesn't hurt to keep picking up the Health and Mana Buffs. The Defense Buff is also nice to have but I only get it once I begin to gank (lvl 10 or so), also Movement Speed Buff is also nice to have for chasing down your prey.

Green (Health) - Whenever possible, but don't leave your lane buddy hanging.
Blue (Mana) - If you want to be more aggressive and if you also want to do some nice counter jungling.
Yellow (Defense) - Pick up while walking through jungle for ganks.
Orange (Movement Speed) - If you wish to pick it up after you push the first tower (or before) it's always nice for chasing down your prey.
Red (Damage) - I usually only take this if I am counter jungling someone.
White - (Cooldown Reduction) - This is similar to the Movement Speed Buff, if you want to get it you can it always helps in the long run.

How to Odin

Initiating

Generally there are a few specific things you want to do when initiating or jumping into team fights with Odin. Lunge is a beautiful way to enter into a fight with some damage, especially when it is followed by a Gungir's Might, already you've done roughly 400-600 damage to all Gods caught in both of these abilities. You may also pop your ultimate, Ring of Spears to trap any gods who do not have a leap to get out with, be mindful when jumping Gods such as; Ymir, Zeus, and Ao Kuang due to the factor if not timed correctly you could just be causing a death trap for you and your team.

Escaping

If you begin to get low and you don't have enough teammates around to help you, you can utilize your ultimate, Ring of Spears to trap your pursuers and leap out for an easy get away, be mindful not to waste it on a God that can leap out such as; Hades, Anhur and Sun Wukong. If your ultimate is down and you don't want to use it to get away you can always simply Lunge forward or over walls to escape whenever it is of cooldown, be mindful of gods you can leap over things as well, if being pursued by such a god simply leap forward every time it is off cooldown unless you believe you can duke them out in the jungle via jumping over walls. Also if Gods are right on your tail because they are faster than you such as; Kali, Sun Wukong and Ares, you can always pop your Gungir's Might to slow them down and giving you more distance and time to run, whilst continuing to leap when it is off cooldown and using Gungir's Might every time they get too close.

Team Fights

Now, this is always an important time and Odin can ALWAYS be the difference between life or death for either an enemy or an ally. Jumping in and popping Gungir's Might is a great way to keep those pesky runners close to your team so either you or they can pick them off. Your ultimate, Ring of Spears, is a game changer when it comes to team fights. You can cut off a fleeing God or box enemy Gods into teammates ultimates and abilities BUT, you can also trap squishy teammates in enemy ultimates and abilities or not catch the person you are pursuing and delay your team and yourself long enough for your prey to escape your grasp.

Great guide! Could use a little more detail, but the game is still in beta lol. I like the bruiser build as that is how I usually play Odin myself, except I don't usually go with Qin's Blades, I prefer Hide of the Nemian Lion or Devourers gloves depending on enemy team. Just my opinion really. Overall great job.
