I'm new to the game and I'm struggling with something... In "sample build 1, I have 8 items, what should I choose over what?

The first 2 items there are starter upgrades. The last item is mentioned after Elixir of speed, so in the lategame once you’re full build buy elixir of speed and once you have enough gold sell your boots late for the last item.

Also I wouldn’t recommend Cthulhu as a Support in conquest, he’s mainly a solo laner.

Most guide creators will specify things within a build in the "NOTES" in the top right of a a list of items. However, Moreton22 has not done this.

From the jist of his guide, he has shown there are 2 starter items that you can pick between, and the first 2 items in the "sample build 1" are the upgrades from either of the starters you pick. If you went Sentinel's Gift you would get Sentinel's Embrace, if you got War Flag you would get Spartan Flag. So that's 1 item off but that still leaves 7.

When you get to the later stages of the game you can purchase Elixir of Speed. This grants you the same movement speed that your boots do for 1500 gold, once you have bought that item you can purchase another whole item which by the looks of it is Ethereal Staff in this case. This leaves us with the whole 6 item build.

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
