Introduction

Hello and welcome to my Rajin, Master Of Thunder guide! First and foremost, i want to let everyone know that this is my FIRST guide so criticism is welcomed!

This is also a work in progress and i will update if i find easier methods.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
- Incredible burst
- Good wave clear / intimidate
- Great situational Ultimate

Cons:

- Your main source of burst damage causes you to expend your only escape
- Ultimate reduces movement speed incredibly, making you an easy target.

Skills

Passive: Static Crescendo

This passive works in correlation to your basic attacks. Each basic attack (hit or miss) charges up one drum. When you have max drums charged up, your next ability will deal an additional 30% DNG.

This does not increase your skills damage by 30%. It acts as power scaling and will deal seperate damage equal to 30% of your total magical power. (Like Janus)

This makes Rajin hit like a bus when used correctly. It's a very strong passive so you will have to focus this very closely when engaging.

Percussive Drum

This is your wave clear skill. This skill is very efficient in clearing and will do so with one sole use. It passes through all minions but will stop on enemy gods if they get in the way.

As far as the mechanics go, Rajin will bang his drums 3 times with the 3rd shooting two projectiles at once.

You're going to building a lot of stacks early game so you generally would want to max this first.

This skills projectile are rather slow so you have to take this into consideration when engaging in fights.

Raiju

This skill works very much like Hou Yi's mark skill. While your targets are marked with the Raiju, their location will be visible on the map for the duration of the skill.

This skill does a good amount of damage and it's good to level this second. It will work well with your Percussive Drum skill early to mid game.

When enemies are hit under the Raiju debuff, They take damage and the Raiju will bounce to nearby targets and they're damaged as well. This skill is much like Zeus'Chain Lightning as it bounces from target to target.

This skill causes intimidation for your enemies. People tend to back off while under the Raiju knowing how much damage it could deal.

Like Raijin's first skill, this one is rather slow. You will have to treat it as you would with Osiris ultimate. The Raiju takes time to travel to the actual location you want it to.

THIS SKILL DOES NOT ACTIVATE YOUR PASSIVE WHEN USED AS IT DEALS NO DAMAGE ITSELF.

Thunder Crash

This skill acts as a very, very quick leap. Although it's very quick, you can be picked off by CC during your cast.

When using this skill, your target location will be mesmerized for a short duration. On the initial cast, you will deal damage from the larger target AOE. The leap itself will deal additional damage in the smaller AOE.

The reason why i max this skill last is because i use this the least early game. My main use of this skill is as an escape rather than damage early.

This skill is very versatile. It can be combo'd with your passive and your second skill Raiju, dealing MASSIVE damage. This is also your only escape. It's not an instant jump, so if you're using it as an escape, you have to do it sooner than later to be safe.

Ultimate: Taiko Drums

This skill is very useful since you have many options with it. This skill can alter team fights for your benefits.

This skill is a directional blast with high range rivaling Ra's ultimate. The directionals are rather slow also, similar to Janus' ultimate. You have up to 4 blasts during your ultimate.

When used, your skill sets are changed.

Your 1: Deals 100% of damage. Used mainly to secure kills from fleeing enemies.
Your 2: Deals 50% of damage. This skill inflicts enemies caught in the blast with the taunt debuff for .5 seconds. This skill is mostly used when you want to direct enemies away from your teammates while letting them load into the enemies.
Your 3: Deals 50% of damage. This skill inflicts enemies with the fear debuff. This skill can be a life saver and is VERY useful end game.

Items

Shoes of the Magi

Since this build doesn't contain a heavy protection shredding item, these boots are a must for that additional 10 penetration.

Warlock's Sash

This is a great item to give you a tanky feel. It gives a good amount of HP and 110 damage at full stacks. This item won't make you a heavy hitter early game, but is very beneficial end game.

Brestplate of Valor OR Chronos Pendant

If you're going against more than 1 physical target, Breastplate of Valor will help you further making you tanky. You will lose damage, but it's better to be safe than dead in my opinion. This item also has decent synergy with the item you will get after, Book of Thoth.

If the enemy team doesn't have pesky physical Gods, then you should pick Chronos Pendant to deal some more damage early game.

These items are a must due to the fact that Rajin needs cooldown % to be most efficient.

Book of Thoth

When this item's online, you will start to hit hard. At max stacks, you'll be feared for sure. This item works well with Warlock's Sash since it converts your mana into magical power.

Spear of Desolation

This item will put an extra "umph" to your skills. It's a huge damage boost which you'll be needing and the extra 20 penetration will shred enemies.

Rod of Tahuti

As the cherry on top, Rod of Tahuti is a must. I get this item last because of the passive will be the most beneficial in end game converting all your magical power.

When you max out your stacks and purchase every item, you won't be capping the magical damage. You'll probably be around 750 magical damage which is sufficient. Purchasing Potion of Magical Might and Power Elixir will push you a bit over the 900 damage, capping it.

Having all these items, you'll be having around 2.5k HP, with Phys defense and capping the magical damage. "GEE GEE"

Rajin's Combo and Tactics

Now for the fun part.

While having your passive ready, be sure to catch your enemies with Raiju then immediately use your Thunder Crash afterwords. This will deal INCREDIBLE damage.

Your enemies will be taking damage from Raiju, both damages from Thunder Crash and the passive. If combo'd on enemies without any defensive items, it will GUARANTEE an instant kill in the end game.

Since you'll be able to withstand some damage, don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. You will want to get close enough to hit your target with Raiju so you can Thunder Crash. With this build, you can play aggressive against your enemies, enabling you to get your combos off.

Summary

I've had a fair amount of success with this build myself. Rajin is a great God that can deal a large amount of damage in a flash. He has good mobility from his leap.

His ultimate can be used to save teammates, get you kills or get your teammates kills. It's very versatile and one of the most strongest in the game when used correctly.

Rajin will remain one of my favorite gods because of his kit.

There definitely is a learning curve to his skills so it might be tough if you don't have experience with him.

Most of his abilities are slow acting so you have to learn how to know when to place properly.

Totally missed the Joust part, sorry about that mate!

I'm not saying spear of desolation is bad, i just see a lot of people incorporating it with magic burst builds that really dont utilize it for it's true potential when there is another item that is best in slot.

@CaptElfimis,

This build is for Joust as it is in the name at the top.

Being vulnerable in your ultimate is something i put in the cons for this God. that's very important.

The reason i use Spear instead of Soul Reaver is because of the extra penetration and its passive. Having that extra CD is cructial because 8 seconds shaves a good amount of time for you to get your Thunder Crush back up and escape. I have experimented with Soul Reaver and it's VERY strong when you ULT, but the CD on the passive is quite long and you don't have the hard penetration shred as you would with Spear of Desolation. Just my flavor though.

Thanks for the feedback and i will add Soul Reaver to the guide.

Decent guide, covers most of the basics and quick things people will be looking for.

A few things/changes:

1. What game mode/modes is this build being utilized for?

2.A wise tip to new Raijin players would be to explain that you can die in your ult so placement and caution is required when using it. While you are cc immune you can still be killed rather quickly even while ulting.

3.I personally recommend maxing Raiju 1st as he is the source of your combo burst and you should always try to be skill shotting marked targets (Like Hou Yi)

4.Spear of Desolation is okay but is being widely abused for it's simple "high numbers", people see it and think "Hey this is really strong!" but is it truly beneficial to the build. I personally take Soul Reaver instead for it's passive, with Raijin combo ability or ult power, it's passive pretty much promises a wipe on unsuspecting targets or those over extending the chase.
