Odin begins empowering Gungnir with Runic Magic, becoming immune to knockbacks. Every second, Gungnir changes runes and Odin pulses out damage around him, slowing enemies for 2s. When Odin releases Gungnir it travels forward, damaging enemies and stopping on the first god hit. The first rune causes allies around Odin to gain Attack Speed for 3s. The second rune allows Gungnir to stun.

A portion of the wall can be destroyed when hit by 5 Basic Attacks. Enemies that leave the ring through or over a wall are chased by Gungnir, taking damage and becoming slowed for 2.5s. Enemies that die inside Ring of Spears grant Odin a permanent bonus to Physical Power.

Introduction

I play Odin as a physical damage dealer. He is excellent in luring in enemies and not letting them escape, Odin capitalizes on mistakes such as overextending and chasing.
Pros

  • High defensive stats for Early Game
  • Ult can trap enemies under towers and away from their allies
  • Great for assassinating
  • Jump for initiating or for escaping
Cons
  • Mana Hungry early game if you spam 3
  • Ult is hard to use
  • Takes practice to know when to save 3 and when to use 3

Skills

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Birds of Wisdom

Key Bind: Passive

Odin's ravens scout an increased radius around himself, doubling his minimap vision radius and gaining visibility of enemies within that radius.

My Thoughts: These ravens can see in the fire giant, buff camps, and see ganking enemies. Pay attention to your map! If you don't, you aren't using your passive!
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Lunge
Key Bind: 1

Odin Lunges to his target location, doing 140 / 180 / 220 / 260 / 300 (+40% of your physical power) physical to all nearby enemies.

Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana.

Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 s.

My thoughts: This is your escape, initiate and assassination tool. We do not max this because both, this increases the mana cost, and there is your 3 to max which is better early game
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Odin's Shout
Key Bind: 2

Odin gives a commanding roar, rallying his allies. Odin and his allies gain an attack speed buff of 15 / 25 / 35 / 45 / 55% for 7 s.

Cost 60 mana.

Cooldown: 20 / 19 / 18 / 17 / 16 s.

My thoughts: This ability works in great conjunction with your ultimate. Despite the low mana cost, you do not want to spam this. Only use it in your ultimate or when pushing towers. This ability can take out a turret at level 10 with one minion wave. It is overpowered but do not spam it.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Gungnir's Might
Key Bind: 3

This power, while used passively, provides 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 protection from physical attacks and 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 HP5. Upon activation of this power, he does a speeding melee attack that does 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+100% of your physical power) physical damage and slows all enemies around him by 30% for 2 seconds, but he loses the passive bonus while on cooldown.

Cost: 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 mana.

Cooldown 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 s.

My Thoughts: This deals a TON of damage, you need to know when to use it and when to save it for the passive protection. I grab this at level one because of the protections, you do not want to waste it as it takes a large amount of mana compared to your low max mana. Wait at least till level 2 when you have lunge for harassing, but don't use it often

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Ring of Spears
Key Bind: 4

Odin summons a wall of spears, blocking all normal movement. Odin gains +60 protection, +35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 physical power and immunity to stun/fear/silence/root while inside the ring. Pressing the button again will bring down the ring.

Cost: 100 mana.

Cooldown: 75 s.

My Thoughts: This works well with all your abilities, you have the protections to use 3 without guilt, a wall to make sure no dash will go through, a way for no-one to get away without a jump so you can auto attack with 2, Odin stops for a moment when using it, make sure they are 10 feet in at least

Ultimate usage

As Odin, your ultimate can make or break a fight. Here are the ways to use it:

  • Prevent a low health enemy from escaping (be careful of jumps)
  • Lay it down and jump out yourself to keep an enemy stationary while you escape
  • Jump behind enemy lines to the ranged ad and lay it down for an easy kill while they can't get help
  • Trap the tanks in and jump out to get the carries (not recommended)
  • Cut through cc while getting away
  • Trap enemies in other ultimates such as Zeus and Ymir
  • And finally, to get yourself a first row seat with the enemy Minotaur while his teammates can't help him
How not to use it:
  • Blocking your carries to get inside while your taking down a priority target
  • Trapping a low health ally in with a enemy carry
  • Blocking jungle paths for your allies
  • Incorrectly judging the time before the wall forms so everyone walks out of it
  • Trapping a jump enemy
  • trapping Bastet

Early game

Start with level 2 warrior tabi and one of both potions. Level up your 3 and try to farm. If you want to harass, use 1 and 3 and back off. Don't do this too often or you run out of mana. Back at around level 5 or 6 with about 1500 gold so you can finish your warrior tabi and a part of your devo gloves. Continue to back at around 1500 gold or when you get too low on health or mana. If you wait longer than that point than you will fall behind and will be killed. Do not over extend or harass too much, anyone can be killed at any time in smite. You can either max 2 or 1 for your second max, if you want more harass, get 1. If you want more pushing power and kill power, get 2.

Team fights

Once the inner tower is destroyed, teamfights start. Make sure to use your ultimate at a good time (see ultimate usage). Try to focus the squishy damage dealers who hang out in the back of their line, but if you can't, don't bother with them, just deal the damage you can. It is always better to retreat than die.

Minotaur assassination

Odin is one of two gods who can successfully assassinate the Minotaur, he does this by trapping himself and only the Minotaur together, all enemy abilities can't go through, so you just get some quality time with him. Your life steal, crit damage, and defensive stats from your ultimate should keep you topped off while attacking him, especially when you have all items. your team will rage at you if you die continuously trying this, it also becomes more predictable if you have done it 5 times, make sure the 1st or 2nd is the last

Summary

Only use your ultimate in a good situation that doesn't hinder your allies, be unpredictable, play a safe early game with lots of farm, and shout FOR ASGUARD whenever you solo the Minotaur. And most of all, have fun playing Odin, the all father.
