1st Relic Options

Notes Which relic you take HEAVILY depends on which gods the enemy team has.
Taking Teleport as your first relic allows you to play safer by having the chance to recall low and get back fast to defend.
Take Phantom Veil possibly as your 1st Relic if you're up against Odin.
Aegis might be a good option against a high burst mage such as Anubis.
Blink if you want to play more aggressive and surprise people with your 3rd pull.

2nd Relic Options

Notes For going head on into teamfights, Shield of Thorns are a pretty good option. Especially if the enemy team has plenty of lifesteal.
Cursed Ankh is another viable option for the same scenario.
Other not mentioned relics are an option too, you judge the situation yourself based on the enemy team composition.

Alternative Starters

Notes If you're up against a strong healer and their team has extra healers or someone that builds lifesteal, get Tainted Steel. (anubis, hades, hel, etc.)

If you're up against a squishy solo laner you think you could win easily, take bluestone.

Notes Soul Eater is a MUST HAVE item on Mulan, it buffs all the stats that Mulan lacks with a good chunk of sustain.

INTRODUCTION

SEASON 9 UPDATED GUIDE COMING SOON! BELOW IS OUTDATED (SEASON 8)

Mulan has been considered one of the strongest solo laners and warriors in general for a fairly decent amount of time. This mostly due to her very strong early-mid game. Late game Mulan should act more as a support/engager to soak up damage and cc the enemy team.

This guide aims to help you know what to build on Mulan so that your build doesn't get in the way of a good and fun game. Like most build suggestions, you might be better off buying an item not even listed on the guide here depending on the enemy team god composition. But in most cases, you'll be alright with the suggested builds.

Basic Information

Follow the guide but judge every game differently.

Your team has basic attack based gods? -> Replace Oni's Guard with Shogun's Kusari
Enemy team LOW on CC? -> Replace Magi's Cloak
Enemy team LOW on SKILL? -> Win but with RESPECT
Your team LOW on SKILL? -> Be honorable and kind!

Lanning Phase

Mulan has a VERY STRONG early game which means you could easily get ahead early allowing you to wreck your opponent in the lane.

Try not to damage the enemy solo if there are too many minions around them cause the minions will do HEAVY damage to you. Clear the minions, then engage.

Blue buff is very important for mulan since you'll be constantly spamming your abilities to clear waves.

If you're being harassed too much by the enemy solo or jungle, camp under your tower and focus on farming minions and getting your blue buff (if possible).

Relax, even if you go behind during the early laning phase, you can still come back in team fights. If you are behind, focus on being support by absorbing damage, engaging and disengaging with your ultimate.
