Hel was the first God I ever got to mastery X. As I originated as a console player, I do play PC now but not as much, Hel is a lot more common, as it is rare for people to have any clue what the meta is let alone follow team compositions. I picked up Hel as I loved the stance switching aspect, and how unique it was for her to be able to both inflict damage and heal.
With Hel it is never a good idea to go a glass cannon build, as she is extremely squishy and can easily be ganked, even in late game without some form of protection. However, I would also not suggest building her completely with defensive items either as her healing scales well with her magical power. The recommended builds are builds that I use regularly and they seem to work for me personally, although, I do suggest editing any suggestion made accordingly to your play style.
Positives
In conclusion, Hel can be an asset to a team, in the hands of a good Hel player. However, inexperienced players will be prone to feeding and possibly cost a game. Hel can be very situational, there are a lot of scenarios where she will not win if the player does not have experience with her, as her base stats are low, meaning you're always building the same type of items in order to get her damage off. Healing others with the her one can be troublesome as your allies tend to avoid it more than enemies, though, once accustomed to it can have a huge impact and help allies a lot.
