Cu Chulainn is one of Smite's newest gods in Smite patch 4.11, and his skill is truly undiscovered. His ability to help gank in conquest and rally team fights so quickly in joust has quickly made Cu Chulainn one of my favorite Gods in Smite already. This build is what I have found to work in joust consistently and I figured I would share what I have had success with in the community.
The starting build gives Cu health(Mana) regen through his passive with blue stone and the tire 1 warrior tabi gives him a little movement speed to help escape early. He is an awkwardly squishy target around lvl 6-13 but can really assist with his abilities and passive if used correctly. Second tier of building really stacks his passive and with trans gives him power that will last him into the late game. His last two items are very situational... Whether you build both defensive items, both offensive items, or 1 of each strickly depends on how the other team is playing and if your role in your group has been more support, gank, or tank.
Pros:
- Cu has a high skill cap and wide range of combos with his abilities and passive
- His ability to gank over short walls is essential for small fight ganks and escapes | Can also be used for big team ganks if his passive is timed correctly
- Ult has knock up and can be combo'ed with other gank like players such as Awilix
Cons:
- Has an awkward squishy faze mid game and can be frustrating to stay in lane without a good ADC or mage behind you
- Clear is weak until he has a solid build behind him
- Novice players or players just starting off can get frustrated timing his passive correctly and often unleash his beast on camps and npc's
There are a handful of suggestions I have for teammates and a few that I have found don't help him as much. Geb and Athena are great supports for him (as well as many other Gods) because of Gebs shield and Athenas ability to keep squishier targets in fights a little longer than they would like. Awilix is a great partner because of his knockup ult. Also roughly and pusher is a great aid to Cu because of his lane clear early game, Skadi seemed to work well. Gods that didn't seem to work as well, or at least god combos with Cu included mage ADC combos in joust where the other teams tank was able to keep us at bay. Xbal and Chiron struggled to match up combos in fights with him as well as Rijin
Through my play style and time spent playing Cu I developed these strategies. 99% of the players who read this for info on this new God will have different opinions on who to pair him with/not with, which items to use and which not to use, and what they think his pros and cons are or aren't. These guide is what I have found that works for me, and I truly hope this can help everyone else out there struggling to figure out what in the world should I build on this one of a kind God in Smite. Happy Jousting <3
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
