Introduction

Hi folks, name's emmanuel, im a new player in smite but im doing surprisingly well, i don't own many gods but i have been playing Ao Kuang since i bought him non stop. I made this guide to share my build with you guys and get constructive feedback, its kind of an alternative guide on how to be helpful as Ao Kuang.

Btw im slowly starting my own livestream, for now it will be only normal games but once i get to the required level i'll start with ranked as well.

AcidFrog livestream: http://www.own3d.tv/live/418278

Pros / Cons

Pros: Great pusher
Great zoning
Great farming
lots of utility when played right.
pretty damn decent damage.

Cons: Hard to master,
Lousy jungler
hard to hit spells
poor escape
little defense

Skills

5% of mana is converted to magical power, you need lots of mana anyway to stay in lane pushing, so its quite useful.

Lets make some calculations shall we? Ao Kuang has a base mana of 1120 at lvl 20, with the items listed above the total mana pool with a full build is 2330, 5% of which is converted to magic power, thus only from the mana of the items and his passive Ao Kuang gains 112 magical power.

so your total magic power should be: 668 give or take 10 points. that isnt a bad score concidering the utility these items offer.

Squall, this skill does decent damage, has a small area of effect, but most importantly, it slows enemies and has somewhat of a shorter cooldown. use this when running away, or before you position your tornadoes in a team fight.

Slither: your escape or dive mechanism, the speed buff is decent (passive/ active) but its long cooldown and short duration make it an extremely risky spell to use at random times. Take great care of how you use this spell as it may save you when you need to run or ensure the kill when chasing.

Tornadoes: this is your signature ability, the most useful ability when laning. tornadoes deals lots of damage over time but its quite hard to position correctly, it can clear a whole minion wave if it is casted when the melee creeps pass the point where the ranged creeps will stand. so that way you can hit all the creeps, zone your opponent, push and farm from a safe distance. in teamfights make sure your enemies are committed to the fight before you cast it.

Spirit's Tempest: The WTF JUST HIT ME Ability, deals TONS of burst damage, and pushes enemies aside, downsides are, hard to hit, and quite predictable, but it does pass through terrain so it can be cast through a wall for example. Its greatest use is in teamfights as it totaly wipes out whoever it hits, and when kiting in the jungle, where its almost a sure hit, or a sure escape. use this ability wisely as it has a large cooldown and its needed in teamfights in order to easily win them.

Items

start with boots and 1 health pot as well as one mana pot this will help you sustain a great lane push with some extra mobility to avoid possible ganks.

go into warlock sash as soon as possible and start stacking it, it must be your first or second item or else you might not stack it as fast as its needed.

next is rod of tahuti, this item gives you more mana sustainability (its a pain, trust me) and tons of magical damage.

chronos pendant is a must, since it offers great cooldown reduction, (your third spell which is probably the most useful one other than the ulti has quite a cooldown), lots of mp5 and some magic damage.

SITUATIONAL ITEMS:
great for moving around, ganking, assisting, and running away.

this item is actually more of a recommended one than a situational one, it allows your tornadoes (third spell) to do more damage, increases the slow of your SQUALL (1st spell) and helps your team mates catch up to the enemies.

this is quite useful in case enemies have heavy CC or heavy burst abilities (i.e ares)

in case enemies have lots of healing spells or lifesteal, can come quite handy (i.e RA)

this item should only be bought (imho) if your team is lacking damage, with this guide though you focus more on pushing / assisting so i wouldnt recomend the polynomicon.

Team Work

As Ao Kuang you should always push and zone. When your team is breaking a tower / phoenix make sure you block the most probable path the enemies will choose with your tornadoes, this gives you: minion clearance, and no disturbance while breaking the tower.

Use your ulti only when enemies are serious about fighting or when someone is about to run out of range.

when kiting, activate Slither, and run, if enemy is still chasing, cast tornadoes where you are standing whilst running. when the distance is safe you may poke using squall and even kill the dude using your ulti... it really does lots of damage.

Summary

I hope you find this guide helpful, im looking forward to constructive feedback and make sure you check out my livestream.

Thanks for your time.
