Notes Built around Chronos' burst combo. Staff of Myrrdin is taken over Blinking Abyss to maximize combo potential. Swap Spear for Divine Ruin against healing, Polynomicon for Soul Reaver against tanky teams, and Polynomicon for Spectral Armor against heavy crit. Blinking Abyss is a viable alternative to Staff of Myrrdin if you need stronger engage or an additional escape. Gem of Focus is an experimental alternative to Book of Thoth for longer fights and increased mobility.

God Aspect De-Activated

Aspect of Relativity

Time Lord no longer grants Intelligence but instead creates a persistent Time Field around you. Allies in your Time Field gain bonuses when you use your other abilities.

Chronos's Skill Order Notes Max Time Rift first for wave clear, poke, and burst damage.
Max Accelerate second for increased DPS, mobility, and boxing potential.
Stop Time is primarily used to set up your combo, so it can wait until last.
Only put one point into Rewind at level 5, as additional points provide less overall value than strengthening your core abilities early.

Time Rift

1 X
Create a rift in time that deals Magical Damage to all enemies in the area. Hitting a god permanently increases Time Rift Damage by 1.

Damage: 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260
Damage Scaling: 80% Intelligence
Range: 8.8m
Radius: 1.6m
Cooldown: 5s
Cost: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70

Accelerate

2 A
Accelerate yourself for a duration. You gain Movement Speed (initial plus increasing over time) and Attack Speed. While Accelerate is active, the Wheel of Time stops; the quadrant it stopped on determines which bonus you receive:

Section I: Heal based on your max Health per second.
Section II: Abilities cost no Mana.
Section III: Increased Intelligence.
Section IV: Increased Intelligence contribution to your Attacks.

Movement Speed: 20%
Movement Speed Over Time: 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 / 20%
Attack Speed: 25 / 27.5 / 30 / 32.5 / 35%
Cooldown: 12s
Cost: 60

Additional Notes:
  • Section I heals a total of 7% max Health over the duration. You gain bonus Movement Speed every 1s while Accelerate is active.
  • Every 4 uses of Accelerate permanently grants Chronos 3 Intelligence and 0.5% Attack Speed.
Stop Time
2 13 14 15 16

Stop Time

3 B
Fire spinning gears of time forward. Enemies hit have their Attack Speed reduced, ramping into a Stun. They take Magical Damage on impact and Magical Damage when Stunned.

Damage: 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150
Damage Scaling: 45% Intelligence
Attack Speed Slow: 20%
Stun Duration: 1s

Teleport through time to a recent position, restoring your Health and Mana to their earlier values. All of your Cooldowns are reset instantly.
  • You become CC immune while Rewind prepares.
  • The Heal is not affected by Healing Reduction.

Introduction

Welcome! This guide is built around understanding why Chronos is itemized a certain way, not just what to buy. This guide started from Weak3n's Chronos build and has been adapted with a greater emphasis on flexible itemization and Staff of Myrrdin's burst potential. As the meta evolves, I'll continue updating this guide with new discoveries and improvements.

Skills

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ability 1 - Time Rift
Your primary source of poke, wave clear and burst damage.

Time Rift is the centerpiece of Chronos' kit. During the laning phase, look for every safe opportunity to poke the enemy Mid. Every successful hit permanently grants +1 Intelligence, making accurate poke incredibly valuable throughout the match.

This ability is also your primary wave clear and should almost always be used after landing your stun.
  • Poke enemy gods whenever it's safe.
  • Use it for wave clear.
  • Cast after Stop Time for guaranteed damage.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ability 2 - Accelerate
Chronos' most versatile ability, providing sustain, mana efficiency, mobility and permanent scaling.

Each section of the clock offers a different bonus:

Section I
  • Heal over time.
  • Excellent for sustaining in lane.

Section II
  • Abilities cost no mana.
  • Great for early wave clear.

Section III
  • Bonus Intelligence.
  • Ideal before bursting an enemy.

Section IV
  • Increased Intelligence contribution to your Attacks.
  • Excellent for objectives and wave clear.

Every four casts permanently increase your Intelligence and Attack Speed, so use this ability frequently.
  • Cycle your clock before fights.
  • Use Section II when low on mana.
  • Use Section I for lane sustain.
  • Cast often for permanent stats.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ability 3 - Stop Time
Your primary setup ability.

Although it deals damage, Stop Time's true strength is enabling your combo. Landing this ability almost guarantees your Time Rift, making it more valuable as crowd control than as a damage source.
  • Open trades with Stop Time.
  • Peel for yourself against assassins.
  • Don't waste it clearing waves.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ultimate - Rewind
One of the strongest defensive ultimates in Smite.

Rewind transports Chronos to the position he was at 8 seconds ago, restoring his health and mana to their earlier value allowing him to survive burst damage, bait enemies into overcommitting and completely reset bad fights.

Avoid panic-ulting. The longer you can safely hold it, the more value you'll usually get.
  • Track where you'll rewind to.
  • Don't cast it too early.
  • Use it aggressively if you know you'll survive.
  • Watch out for crowd control before committing.

How to play Chronos

Chronos is a scaling hypercarry. Your objective isn't to dominate lane, it's to consistently build an economic advantage through efficient farming, smart rotations and strong objective play until your late-game power takes over.

Gameplay Start / Early Game

  • Clear your first wave, then help your Jungler secure the Red Buff before returning to lane. Let your Jungler take the first buff unless your team has a different strategy.
  • Your priority is farming. Focus on securing every minion wave while safely poking your lane opponent whenever opportunities present themselves.
  • Contest neutral buffs only when you have lane priority or your Jungler is nearby. Giving up a small objective is better than dying.
  • Ward one side of the Jungle early and play toward the side you've warded. Chronos has no traditional escape, so vision is essential.
  • Recall when you have enough gold for a meaningful power spike rather than staying in lane with low Health or Mana. Try to return without missing an entire wave.
  • Don't feel pressured to rotate early. Missing multiple waves to chase a low-percentage kill usually puts Chronos behind more than it helps.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Mid Game

  • After completing two or three core items, begin looking for opportunities to rotate to Gold Fury, Pyromancer and fights around the jungle.
  • Push your lane before rotating whenever possible. Forcing the enemy Mid to clear gives your team a temporary numbers advantage.
  • Stay close enough to your Jungler and Support that you can quickly assist if a fight breaks out around an objective.
  • Continue farming between objectives. Chronos scales exceptionally well, so maintaining high farm is just as important as securing kills.
  • If your team secures a kill, immediately look for an objective instead of chasing additional kills. Towers, Gold Fury and Pyromancer are often the better reward.
  • If you're behind, play safely under tower, clear waves efficiently and focus on reaching your late-game build.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Late Game

  • Stay grouped with your team. Wandering alone makes you an easy target for assassins and aggressive solo laners.
  • Prioritize Fire Giant, Gold Fury and Phoenixes over unnecessary fights. Chronos is one of the strongest objective-focused Mid laners in the game.
  • Let your frontline initiate before committing. Your job is to follow up with damage, not start the fight yourself.
  • Position behind your tanks and constantly watch for enemy flankers. Surviving is often more valuable than dealing slightly more damage.
  • Even in the late game, continue farming jungle camps and side waves when it's safe. Chronos benefits enormously from reaching full build and maximum level.
