Checking out builds for Ymir huh? Well, look no further as I have everything you need right in this small, quick guide to help you be the support carry that you're team desperately needs! I myself am a diamond Ymir, so I have some well-known knowledge of playing this god.
This Is A Guide For SUPPORT Conquest Build ONLY.
This Guide Contains:
- Building Ymir
- How to play Ymir
- How to be a good support Ymir
- Basic Tips n Tricks
- And other stuff... (things I think are worth writing for)
P.S This will be a short beginners guide to Ymir support.
As Support Ymir, you are often a annoying god to face up against. You usually want to build tank. Ymir can still do massive amount of DMG while able to keep the team together with his tackiness. I have 2 builds made for you here today. First up is my personally favorite one which I called, "The Cannon" build and the second called. "The Tank" build. Alright, lets get into it.
Starting off, you want to grab tier 2 boots and four mana/health pots right of the bat. This goes for both builds. BTW starters aren't bad, but I think Ymir personally is better off with rushing those boots, and I do believe the cannon build is better for you to start/try out. From here you have actually 3 choices, A) Go with shoes of magi (for more dmg) B) Shoes of focus (More CDR) or C) Travelers (Movement speed is fun c: + some good power, for a cheaper price). Now We have another choice to choose: tank or cannon? Well from experience I can say cannon build is the way to go! From here you can follow the build for cannon up by the top of the page. :)
Relics: As Ymir, keeping your teammates alive is key, so starting with a meditation is a good start. Curse is also a good idea, if you are facing against someone who has heals or don't have good escapes early game is great way to pick off your oppenents by slowing them and reducing their healing. Later, you can pick up blink, or sprint to get away from team fights, or if you think the enemy is causing trouble with their CC, grab beads! great pick also.
Extra: Always have couple mana pots on the go, because Ymir run thorough mana like crazy! Followed by some wards if possible. Ex: 2 mana pots and 1 ward.
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!!! Here we go!
--THE BEST COMBOS TO BE A MASTER YMIR--
Hold Up... lets go over his move set real quick.
Passive: Ymir's abilities apply something called Frostbite. When you hit a basic attack, the dmg doubles and their dmg is reduced by 10% for 4 seconds.
Ability 1: He puts up a ice wall, that can last for up to 6 seconds at max. TIP: Place a wall directly under yourself, so that the wall will spawn putting you on one side and blocking off whatever on the other. Great for escaping, but only works if you have at least tier 2 boots. (Or 12% movement speed.)
Ability 2: Ymir smashes his big club in a narrow direction. When this happens there will be a second delay before shards of ice appear before him doing massive dmg. This ability slows and this is the ability you want to usually always max first.
Ability 3: This is a cone shaped attack that freezes all enemies in it. Very nice cc, and usually a good combo with your 2. Your opponents will try to move around you to avoid the ability, so what I suggest is to back up and get a clear shot of them in the cone. Remember, it takes a second for it to activate so there is a possibility they can move out of it.
Ability 4(Ultimate): Ymir goes and charges a huge cirle radius ult. Those who are in it are slowed. You are able to let it charge so it can do massive it dmg or right click and cancel it earlier if needed. Granted, it wont do as much dmg.
NOW....
COMBOS.
Here I Will Teach You Simple, But Devastating Combos You Can Use With Ymir.
The Basics: Starting with your 3 to freeze all enemies than using shards of ice(2) to do more dmg and slow them. After you can simply auto-attack them for some nice dmg from your passive
Walling: Conquest and along with the rest of the Smite maps are fill with narrow places to wall off your enemies and close in. If you are able to wall of your enemy, its wight of the bat in your favor. Just simply perform the basic combo against them if they haven't jumped yet, because they will have no choice but to face you and go the other way to escape.
Ultimate: Your ultimate is great in team-fights. There are many way to best use this, but remember that you are vulnerable when ult since you are charging it. This can be applied to easily finish off enemies. Remember that at full charge, this can up to 1000 dmg on a mage if given the opportunity to do so.
Final words: Once you get the hang of it, it will get easier each time you play Ymir, and remember to always try to get auto attacks in between abilities. This is call auto attack cancelling.
EARLY GAME
When you play as Ymir support, always get 3 pots of health and mana. Doesn't matter what build you want to build into, Ymir need that sustain in health and especially mana. During laning phase(early-game) don't be too aggressive with your opponents. ALWAYS clear minions before going for the kill shot on your enemies. BODY BLOCKING is key asf. If your friend is low, try your best to body block for him while keeping yourself alive. Btw, if there is a minion wave there also, even better for you! Dance around them for maximum protections! Keep the pressure on them, Ymir has good clear so most of the time you and your partner will have minion pressure, at this point, poke you enemies and eventually you can wall 'em off, freeze and kill them. When you go back to base for the first time, you should be able to at least finish boots and maybe a could of mana potions. ***mana>health*** The second time you back, you should start to pick up some wards for you team and more mana and health if you really think you need it over mana.
MID GAME
Mid game is were you want to start rotating for good ganks, because Ymir's freeze is very strong for ganks. The objective is to get ahead of the other team by getting assists/kills while starting to farm. Try to get an early Gold Furry is possible. You should be half way into your build at this point, Ymir starts to become a monster and a real tank with a force to be reckon with.
LATE GAME
At this stage, you should be almost,if not full build. Late game is where you want to group up with your team and get picks and push mid. Or, push and secure a clean FG(Fire Giant. From here you are looking to end game with your team. Try not to go wonder by yourself. You want to be next to your team to support them. Don't forget to continue buy wards, as they are great for knowing where the enemy team is.
