Introduction

Strong sides

  • Strong pusher
  • High damage output

Weak sides
  • Weak escape
  • Hard skill shot

Choose a lane

When you choose a lane you should consider your strengths and weaknesses. A strong pusher always works in a solo mid lane but the lack of escapes forces Ao Kuang to play passively there to avoid ganks. His strong pushing ability also comes in handy when paired up with weak pushers such as Guan Yu and Artemis. In return, they provide Ao Kuang with hard stuns which allows him to land his skill shots and deal great amounts of damage. Being very flexible and able to take on any role, Ao Kuang should look to his team setup and pick a lane according to what his team needs.

Creeping / Jungling

Use your Tornadoes to push your lane. As long as the enemy minion wave walks through it at some point it will deal enough damage so try to place it where it also hits your lane opponent. Don't use your Squall to harass unless your enemy is at low health. If you find yourself pushed into your tower you can use your ultimate to clear an entire minion wave at once. This is very useful if your lane opponent is also under the tower as the tower will start to attack him and deal damage equal to your early game ultimate.

Team Work

Ao Kuang posses little team utility in terms of crowd control but he still brings something to the table in team fights. He is there to deal the damage. Make sure you take full advantage of stuns, slows and obstacles to land your skill shots. With your early Polynomicon you will be able to kill an enemy god in a matter of seconds. The most important team fights are the ones in Gold Fury and Fire Giant which is exactly where you want to be, in the jungle. The narrow jungle paths makes your Tornadoes impossible to walk around and your Spirit's Tempest extremely hard to dodge. The enemy team can choose to either fight and loose or to not fight and loose the Gold Fury or Fire Giant buff.

Summary

Ao Kuang is a strong pusher and a good damage dealer. He excells in team fights where his allies can provide him with crowd control that allows him to land his skill shots. Ao Kuang is a good choice in any team composition and due to his flexibility he can take on any role for the team.

obviously this guide is too short, however as I continue to state, Polynomicon is OP and is mando on Ao Kuang, and Ra. I love popping slither to either chase, or just to proc the polyshot, it's a great combo. Only thing I might change is grabbing the rod of Tuhiti before polynomicon either replacing Warlock sash or right after warlock sash, but it's all good.
