Introduction

This is my first build in smitefire, so I decided to make one for my main, Ao Kuang. This Build is based on my preference and playstyle, my playstyle is slightly passive so if you are aggresive you might want to swap some items out. Also I'm kinda lazy to add/learn all those colouring effects on my words or put those pictures.

How I use Ao Kuangs Skills

Passive: Graceful Winds
This passive converts 5% of your mana to magical power making Ao Kuang able to get one of the highest magical power. This passive doesn't mean you should get high amounts of mana but it is always nice to get items which give magical power and high mana amounts.

Skill 1: Squall
This is a line attack that hits the first target hit, then exploding on the target hitting nearby targest. This is a skillshot meaning it might require some practice to hit. It has a rather long range and it slows the enemy making it ideal for chasing if you can hit the skillshot. It also does moderately high damage.

Skill 2: Slither
This move increases Ao Kuang's move speed and makes him immune to slows for 1 sec when activated. This move doesn't require much strategy, just use it for escaping, chasing or just for moving faster.

Skill 3: Tornadoes
Ao Kuang's most important and damaging skill(besides ult), it is an AoE attack that branches off to enemies who step in the radius even for a sec, it does high damage if you stay in it(I don't know why you would) and still deos high damage even if you don't stay. It is great for minions clearing, jungle clearing etc. It can pick off those enemies that barely got away with its branching mechanic making you able to get multiple kills. This move can be used to zone enemies or they take damage from walking through it, this move is a huge counter to squishy melee gods that want to get in, kill and get out. This is because if you put the tornadoes down and stand in it, they can't hit you unless they go in the tornadoes causing them to take damage.

Ult: Spirit's Tempest
A line ability that has a width and length of the jungle area making it a great move in the jungle. This ability is rather hard to hit as there is a delay and a warning before the activation but if used right can do A LOT of damage, up to 2000 late game. With practice and timing hitting this ult is no problem and can get you triple kills. This can be used as an escape because of the delay, just put the ult down in front of you then walk in the line of your ult and if the person is still following you they will walk into the line and get hit by the ult.

Pros / Cons

Pros
High AoE damage
Decent escape
Easy minion wave and jungle clear
Easy to play god

Cons
Weak/Squishy although not as weak as other mages
His escape is countered by long lasting slows
Hard to Master his skillshots

Build explanation

Book Of Thoth
This is the best item for Ao Kuang, it's his bread and butter. Start with this item and grab some mana potions and health potions, you can grab tier 1 of an active if you think its necessary. This item alone gives Ao Kuang 250+ magic power at max rank and full stacks.

Boots of celerity
Ao Kuang is very squishy so this item helps with that giving him a high movement speed boost and a cdr allowing him to use his tornadoes faster.

Spear of the Magus
This item is good mainly because of Ao Kuangs tornadoes, every time his tornado hits the enemy it applies a stack causing his tornadoes to do more and more damage per tick. This makes it really good in the mid/early game. There is no other reason to get this item besides the decent penetration.

Gem of Isolation
This is also a very good item on Ao Kuang, it affects all his abilities except his 2nd. His 1 will slow by 50%!, his tornadoes will slow the enemy and his Ult will also slow

Bancroft's Talon
This item helps Ao Kuang who will most likely get targeted allowing him to add to his already high damage. The lifesteal isn't really a reason but it might be when you jungle.

Rod of Tahuti
This item really is only to further increase your damage like any other mage

Other Items

Boots of the Magi
If you are confident of not getting caught and killed then you can get this item for that extra pen and damage at the cost of less movement speed and no cdr.

Chrono's Pendant
This can be a replacement starter item if you want high amounts of MP5 and some cdr. I used to use this item but dumped it because im sacrificing to much magical power although you could replace it in the late game.

Obsidian Shard
If you are falling behind, replace this for the Spear of the Magus, also replace when late game for more damage as the gods will no doubt have more magical damage than the early/mid game.

Actives
There is no actives I would recommend as for Ao Kuang it all depends on the team composition but meditation might be recommended if you are scared of losing the laning phase but it might hinder you when you need a extra slot for a Purification Beads or Aegis Amulet

Gameplay

Best Gods to have on your team
Ares: REALLY good with Ao Kuang because of ares ult, you can put a tornadoes down, ares pulls them into the tornadoes and when they are grouped because of the ares ult, further damage them with your ult and any survivors can be picked off by ares or your tornadoes branching effect. You can also Squall if you don't have your ult.

Hades: Same reason for Ares but the only problem is you have to aim your ult more strategically, as for tornadoes just put it on Hades.

Odin: Decent but still very good, You can put your tornadoes zoning the enemy in Odin's ring making it so they can't just run around the inside of Odin's ring and ult if you feel the need to.

Summary

Overall Ao Kuang is just a god for high damage at the cost of low defenses. Most people say Ao Kuang is an easy god to play and while that is true, Ao Kuang is hard to master

Easy to learn, Hard to master
