Introduction

Hi guys,

My name is PSVfootball, I've been playing smite now for a few months. I have a level 30 character and I really enjoy playing anubis. Recently I played a Joust match against another anubis, most of the times I win, but this one was different, I got the first blood, but after he finished his rod he was basicly wrecking me, I couldn't get enough damage off on him no matter what, while he was able to kill me with the 2,3,4 combo. The difference was, I went for a more basic build. Boots, Warlock's, Gem of iso, bancrofts, rod. Full magical power, this works, but you have no defence or any health items, it makes you very squishy.

So I, the ******* that I am, am going to share his build for everyone else to enjoy :P

Summary

So, why the build up top?

Well, to summarise it all, you end up with more protections, while the early on rod and the book of thoth at the end give you a very powerful kit to burn almost any god down, at least, after you got the penetration for the tanks.

The Actives:

When at level 10 you did not kill any god/died:
I suggest picking up both aegis and beads, to get yourself out of dangerous situations, or to ignore most of the damage from ulties like agni's meteor's, poseidons kraken or ao's ult, seen as these are probably your most common opponents.

When stuff is going decent, obviously don't waste your active slots on defensive items, but buy blink instead of beads/aegis, this, together with your freeze can deliver a very powerful combination.


This build is all about seeking opportunities, play passive, don't spam abilities, I never had to buy a mana pot or meditation, because I was never in any danger because of having to less. Try to make the enemy think your getting their or your buffs by using your 1 in the buff camp where you don't damage the creeps, and when they notice the sound, he will probably come and investigate, this is probably an insta kill when you hit your stun off and use your 3 and ult correctly :)

Skills

-Why did I start with my 1 instead of my 3? I don't know, I just like it more, and I believe it puts out more damage then your 3, but i'm not sure.

-Why did I upgrade my freeze randomly? because you shouldn't have to be using your 1 often anyways, your best combo should be with your 2,3,4. Your 1 isn't really involved, maybe as a finisher, or in the non-ult combo. And the extra levels on your freeze make your enemies stay longer in your 3, and make them an easy target for your gaze of death.

The results

Here you can see the difference in what you win versus what you lose with this build against a full magical power build, I forgot to put it up to level 20!

My guide's build will win with defences (health, magical/physical defense), but lose just a bit with magical power, lifesteal and mana. Seen as I never have any mana shortage, I ignore the mana one.

Gods to be careful off

There are a few gods that can be extremly hard to kill/damage:

Arachne: Probably the worse one, if you get your stun off on arachne, and your 3 under her 6 (yes, 6) legs, and ultie a little bit to close, she can instantly leap on your head and start getting health back even during your ultimate, and take no damage at all. Most of the times she is very close to dying, but she leeches back to a quarter of her health, most of the times you're still able to kill her with your plague of locust (1)

Every god with a giant leap/dash/teleport: You will meet a few of these, anhur, apollo or cupid. These gods will be able to make your ultimate a not so nice experience, as they tend to leap/dash out of radius when the stun is done, or just leap ontop of you (in air=no damage) and then walk around you and start attacking you, to counter this? Ha, switch with a side laner asap if you died twice in a row.

Agni and He Bo: In 4/5 cases, they won the lane, agni being the biggest annoyance, even if you play very passive, these gods should be able to poke you every 20 seconds, agni with his ult, and he bo with his 3 (water spout?) You could think 'Well that isn't that bad right?' Well, they also both have a dash, agni his fire walkway thingy, and hebo's ult. To top it off, when they escaped your ult they can instanyly start attacking, 3 meteors on top of you when your standing still, is not a nice feeling. So... how to counter? Get the *^@$ out of middle lane when you die 2 times, and tell your team at the start that you might be changing with someone else, so it doesn't cost that much exp/gold.

Just to trow one last god out there, Freya: In my opinion the most difficult god to deal with, she can ult during your ult, and then your still the one taking most damage in the end, then she'll easily finish you with her ranged attack combo (1+2?) So, how do you counter it? You do not, just try to avoid freya, unless your with a teammate, and use your aegis to block some shots.

Aphrodite: Try not to focus her or the person she linked unless your 100% sure she used her ult, otherwise she will get herself and the linked person out of your stun and out of your ult without taking much damage. In mid lane it's not so hard to do her damage with your 2/3/1 combo, or just 2/3 try to keep her at 3 quarters of her health so when you see the opportunity to ult her down, her ult will not neglect enough damage, she's very squishy.

Well, you might say, that this is 50% of the viable mids, but anubis isn't your standard god with the leap/dash and the little speed/attack(<-speed) buff. He has liturally, no escape, and when your done with your 2+3+4, there is nothing left then run. But he does a lot of damage? Yes, he does, but against gods with mobility, 75% of his abilities are useless.

Gods to have a great time with

Here is a list of gods that you should be able to win from easily:

Ao Kuang/Ra: This one is a funny one, he has the stronger push at the start, so you should be playing passive, after you've reached level 5, you should try your first jungle bait, and get your first kill. Sometimes I get a random buff and I check the map when he's about to reach my tower, then the gank should be easy. You should be able to not let him even get the chance of using his ulti, still buy eagis asap when you get ganked and he trows it down.

Poseidon: This is one of the more difficult ones, as he can be pretty fast with full tides and his own speed ability. You should be able to counter him easily if you aegis his ult at all times, you both will have an equally as fast push at the end, but not at the start, his 1 and 3 should be able to win from you BUT he has a lot of mana problems, which means most poseidons already waste 1 active on meditation, so if he doesn't pay attention he might not buy aegis/beads to counter you. Try to make him waste mana on you, by standing still on purpose, to make yourself seem like an easy target for his wave (1) or his whirlpool (3)

Isis: same story as poseidon, she has some mobility with her 1 (when she slams her wings and shoots 4 projectiles) But thats about it for her.

Pros / Cons

Pro's

- With this build, he can be an amazing mid or side laner
- You get some more protections, whithout losing too much else
- He has a very powerful combination when used correctly
- He can also make a very decent jungler


Con's

- After using his abilities, he can be shutdown very easily
- He has no escapes, and is really dependend on his team sometimes.
- He can grant your team a kill, but if you keep missing your freezes, or using them at the wrong moments, people will get annoyed.
- His joke is just... not funny :P
