Guide

In my opinion - ANHUR IS BEST PLAYED IN CONQUEST.
"Why?" you probably ask, but it's because the use of his skills and also his ability to get away when the situation ain't in your advantage.

Gotta admit that my first game with Anhur was like "What a ****ty God, that can't be serious, my score is totally ****ed and i got a spear and a crying ***** of a lion". So what to do next? I started playing some Arena games, and discovered a build that works perfectly fine for me.
Anhur got a very slow rate of fire at start, and his statbonus pr. level doesn't make up for the lack of skills within damage (end) and fire rate.
Although you got to - as usual - play the opposite of your enemy. Which means, if your enemy is MP then go for Magical Protection, if PP then for Physical Protection etc.

When that is said, Anhur has got a really decent start damage.

Gameplay

After a few games with a high death score, i tried to be more cautious and guess what - it actually helped.

When playing as Anhur you need to be steady but pushing get a few hits on your enemies and keep then "Scared" of you. While doing this, go for the minions to earn gold.
Also.... | WATCH YOUR HEALTH|
Anhur haven't got a great amount of health or defense neither, so it's really important to stay back, farm the gold you can and then go back for upgrade - don't be a hero and try to get first blood - becuase when they first got you - you're as good as dead in early game.
It's also very important to remember that Anhur has a low amount of mana, which is the reason why you need to use basic attack as much as possible.

I will allow myself to put it like this:

Early Game:
Be cautious, steady and hold back - dont rush because it will only get you killed.

Mid Game:
Now you're able to push your enemies a little - but still dont be a hero, your character is not done yet, and you have not got all the items you need yet. So be a little more aggressive and combine that with the gameplaystyle from "Early Game".

End Game:
After the purchase of all your items you're ready to go crazy.
Depending on your build and how much you vary from this guide, take care - because you still haven't got so much Physical Protection.

Although Anhur seems to be like a God that needs to be in front and take all the hits - he is not, you need to back up a little and let your teammates take some of the damage, and then strike in !

Now .. The next upgrade is up to you as both seems pretty good and does a lot to Anhur.

Qin's Blades
Deathbringer
Max either one of them out first and start to go a little more for the enemies, this will make you either a lot more dangerous within speed or damage. So the choice is up to you.

For the last item, theres many items to choose between - it's all up to you depending on what you think you lack in.
Depending on the situation you're in you can go for Mana/Physical Protection and health or Mana Regeneration .

The reason why i didn't pick items consisting of Health Regeneration is because that Soul Eater combined with Warrior Tabi - Titan's Bane - Deathbringer gives you an awesome advantage in life steal as long as you make sure that you got a good way to escape if things are getting tight.

But still - this is only in my opinion and I use to get good scores when I'm using this build. As said in the start - Anhur has many builds , it's just about figuring out which one that suits your playstyle.

Items

When playing Anhur theres a lot of ways to build him.
The build shown is just my favorite and the one I'm best with.

If you go for speed and damage rather than defense and stability - this is the way you want to build him.
Of course - when the speed you want is reached you can switch The Executioner for Jotunn's Wrath. Or any other item giving you mana or mana regeneration.

Soul Eater:
The reason why i start with this one is because it makes a big difference in the whole game.
Even though you only steal a little HP in the early game, you're still able to use it to your advantage. The good thing about Anhur even though he is slow, is that he got a good amount of damage from the beginning which makes him feared by the enemies. And if you combine that damage with lifesteal it's in fact a way to survive.

Warrior Tabi:
Also , remember to buy Warrior Tabi at the start of game. Though the start stats isn't the best, it's still a good way to get a great start.
_______________________
The key to this item build is to stay alive as long as possible and kill a F****** lot of minions and only return when dying (which you not should) or when in really bad situations.

2. time in base after starting

Soul Eater:
Upgrade this once more to get a little more life steal and attack speed.

Titan's Bane:
Depending of the amount of gold, you should take this to level 2 first time/second you're back at base. This will automatically combine with your Soul Eater and make you steal a little more HP and also giving you armor penetration - which makes Anhur a decent opponent at this time (at distance of course)

Warrior Tabi:
If you got the gold, spend them on upgrading this once more as it also gives you Critical Strike Chance.

By now you should have in mind that you need to prepare yourself to get Qin's Blades and Deathbringer - so farm alot!
What i use to do is to get enough gold to get Soul Eater , Titan's Bane and Warrior Tabi fully upgraded when entering the base for the second time - this will do a lot of difference in your further combat, and also, you won't have to worry about the amount of gold in the long run - because as soon as you start to invest in Deathbringer you're about to get pretty insane.

Shifting Sands:
A really good way to slow down your enemies while chasing them - placing this skill right will slow your enemies further as the obelisk will be a blockade for them, so use it wisely and only when chasing or running.
The skill says that Anhur gets a damage buff when standing inside - i just can't see it.

Desert Fury:
8 Spears in a row ?
Yeah , as devastating as it sounds, this skill is just badass combined with Impale. As said earlier strain them to the wall and then go all in with Desert Fury.

Although - i've found out, that when you use the item build you wont actually need skills in the long run, because you're critical chance, speed and damage makes up for all the skills which means that you only use the skills to get the last hp out of a running enemy or to chase the sucker down.

"WHAT?!" you might probably say to yourself - but try and you'll find out...

Skills

Personally i haven't got so much on the skills.
In fact, it's because i don't really "think" about them when using them - so heres a quick guide on how i do.

Impale:
Take this as your first skill, it a very good way to damage your enemy or even get away in sticky situations.

The reason why I'm focusing at this skill is because it's a decent way to get a good hit on your enemy, damaging him alot, and also this is the skill that's obvious for conquest.
When hitting an enemy with this skill and smashing him into a wall he gets stunned and takes ekstra damage, if you combine this skill with your ultimate you've got a pretty good chance to do some devastating damage and even kill your enemy.
Also, when you're low on health and are chased by some psycho - use this skill to get away, look back hit the skill button and push him back, if you can restrain him to the wall it's a perfect way to escape.

Disperse:
Use this as your get-away because that's in fact the only thing i can use this skill to because of it's low damage and the way it spreads your enemy out in some direction you don't really know, because they're moving while you're in the air preparing to strike down.

So as far as i concern, this is for me a way to get out of deaths.

Summary

Anhur seems overall like a good and decent god if you don't want to stay in the frontline and play hero!
I usually stay in the back/middle of the fight and go all in from that position - don't worry if you don't get the kills you want and so on, it's pretty hard to get the final hit when using ranged characters.

I took me a really long time to get used to play Anhur because of his standard rate of fire when starting, but it seems that with the right items combined he can be pretty badass, of course you need to know what you're doing and i would rate Anhur to be a mid/pro character when talking about difficulty. That's is because you need to find your own way to play this guy, some things might work other wont, so find a good balance between charging your enemies and staying in the back farming. The key word with Anhur is farming because the items he needs are pretty expensive and you won't get half of them if you're playing passive.

This was all i had guys - hope this will give you an idea how to play Anhur and hopefully give you an advantage in your games!

Thanks for you positive comment.
It's not fully completed yet, but you're right - his skill set is amazing and i will get into further details at a later point!

I made this guide because all the others seemed so incomplete and not detailed, so i though about making a quick guide - i will correct it later on.

great guide, very thorough, but i didn't read you mentioning him as being one of the best control characters in the game, his skills are what make him amaizing, he has a jump, a slow, a stun, AND a damage ult

somthing that TONS of people forget is that his slow also INCREASES his damage by 20%!!! this makes it even more worth it to stun people onto your obelisk and dish out some crazy damage.
