So last night I do the usual and just queue for solo normal play and tell my team, I can middle mage or go tank and be perfectly comfortable with it. Im still working on melee I admit and my team says back great so we an pick what we want and you can just fill in? Yup go for it!
They pick and there is one guy....THAT guy. He has Ao Kuang picked but not locked in and asks me if I can tank, I figure he is just making sure and tell him yes Ill go Hades as I like him the most. I pick him and lock it in. WRONG CHOICE. Dude picks and locks in Ymir and then proceeds to sit in the jungle feeding creeps. Thank god they cant buy items or we would have been truly ****ed. My lane partner is a hyper agressive lets go in at level one and tower dive tard. Left lane is overly passive and farming under the turret but not getting anywhere. This is where my idea hits me.
I start to build Hades as a Damage Dealer. Now it could have just been the fact that they built no magic protection whatsoever and came at me 1 at a time. But the end of the game I had 2nd most gold in game with 13 kills 2 deaths and a handful of assists. It came down to our team suicide rushing the Minotaur for the win.
So question is, with Hades kit think there is a viable build for damage instead of tank with him?
If you have the team comp for it yes. He can be a good damage dealer but I think he will always be the better mageTANK. Ive ran Ymir as a AD carry before and it was because my team was able to support it. It really comes down to a good team that plays good together and your ability to support one another.

Thats what I was thinking and expected and doing a little bit of testing with it in normal solo queues isnt the best place to test such a thing, but there were some games the snowball was just insane.
I once played against a physical build hades. His attack speed was decent and i was suprised about the damage output. But the enemy team lost, can't tell if that was only cause of him.
He took midlane and started with "Fatalis" against our Zeus.
I played an AP Hades build a few weeks ago. You really struggle until you reach midgame and
have a mana problem. As the enemy team had 3 gods that were capable of healing i build into healing debuff. Can't remember the exact build but it was sth. like this.
Boots of the Magi
Gem of Isolation
Void Stone
Mystical Mark
Divine Ruin
Worked pretty well against the healers and my ult forced them to use their escape abilitys and beads, allowing my team to finish them off easily.

With mana problem just get blue, you can get that at level 1 with someone to help you and hands of the gods and that will fix the problem there. As with your ult you really need to try and bait out the jumps and beads they have as much as possible and then ult so you trap as many as can be. Just some things to see if you ever try it again or play Hades again.
Some gods do better going physical than what they "should" be going. If built correctly Ymir can land a 1900 crit on someone through his auto attack. Physical Ra does really well as well, you just level his skills in a different way. Cna be fun at times to do something different.
