In response to many authors concerns over guide score fluctuations and competing guides, today we changed the scoring from % to 5 bars. We hope this reduces friction between guide authors and helps viewers find a wider range of interesting guides.

Let us know what you think!

Either system works honestly. With both you will still have your troll votes as normal, that is just the internet sadly. People think its funny to do such things and only do its for self laughs.

I know this is to stop people from freaking out over the random 1-5% changes and flipping their lids.

I personally like the percentage more than the bars simply for the fact you can "Get a more accurate" reading for the guide. I feel that the bars are to "Open" as with the percentage you can really see how well the guides are and are easier to show the better ones.

I agree with Asmoday. Bars can be a little misleading you can't really tell which ones the BEST guide with bars.

I personally prefer the new system, it seems to have already had a positive effects. SmiteFire isn't about competing to have the best guide, its about helping others and the old system gave misleading results.

Although I do see where you are coming from and has anyone thought about the video of having maybe 10 bars? It wouldn't be as competitive as percentage but would also allow a more visual indication to the quality of builds?

Handy dandy TL;DR at the bottom!
Yes this would be much better. A bigger system but with smaller changes if that makes any sense.
Let me explain.
Right now with the bar system I can make a guide and upvote it myself, have a friend upvote it or heck it might just get an upvote. That guide suddenly has 4/5 bars but the percentage would have been a 57% give or take.

Now the person that has multipul upvotes but not a ton of them still have 4/5 bars and that percentage could be in the 80 rage.

See the "problem" this imposes?

If you were to add more bars than this would spread it out so that low voted guides and higher voted guides still stand out and give the community a way to say hey, this guide is actually good and worthy of this standing of 4/5 bars while this guide is new and we have not really done much with it.

I agree and disagree with Odd here about competing to have the better guide. This is something we should be doing actually. Trying to one up each other and show off. Trying to make a better guide than the other person and have the community say such things. What this ends up doing in a perfect world, is forming a community that cares about itself and the things it puts out. Makeing us stand out and bringing more people to this site.

On the other hand, some people take guides WAY to serious in the matter of "Well this Pro built his God this way so OBVIOUSLY this is how its done" syndrome. If you are one of those people do us all a favor and stop it. Seriously, just stop being ignorant.

Unless you get rid of the system, that would be a VERY poor idea, there is no way to make everyone happy at the same time. Stick with what works and MOBAFire's system works. Just copy paste it here and be done with it.

TL;DR
No system is perfect, stop copying the pros 100% of the time.

Personally, I like the percentage system just for the extra accuracy, but as for the early stages of the website and the community, I reckon bar rating is better to stop competition and to stop people creating fake accounts from different computers (If it's the same as mobafires) and making their guides look more supreme than it is deserving.
