Hey @ all,

what are your thoughts about the solo queue game right now?

I really liked Smite from the first time I played it and have now played over 200 games, but I kind of get fed up with the solo queue games. They somehow seem useless and to be totally dependant on luck/ getting the right random teammates. Sometimes i get the impression that personal skill or doing good is not really able to change the game. I´ve had many won games where I played bad and vice versa. I am now stuck an a certain win/loss ratio and can`t seem to change anything about it, no matter if i play good or bad. In streams of very skilled players who have high elo you can often see that they are also not successful if they join a queue solo. The normal games just seem to be a waste of time.

So why are not just all games ranked? Why is the personal win/loss ratio and skill level only displayed after matches? Why don`t you show the ratio/ skill level of team mates to everyone in the game launching screen? Why isn`t it possible to join the ranked queue with a team mate? Why isn`t afking/leaving/feeding generally punished harder?

If the solo queue is only intended as a training mode like the practice mode just with "real" opponents, they`d have to offer a ranked game always. It`s kind of boring to have to wait an hour in order to play a ranked game and meantime having to play a totally luck dependant random game. And it will have to be possible to join the ranked queue as a 2,3,4 or 5 man team. Even the ranked games as they are now are in the lower elo ranges mainly dependant on luck. You still have feeders, leavers, people who play a god for the first time etc. in these games.

So if HiRez doesn`t want the game to become unintersting for gamers who mainly play solo and don`t have a fixed team, they will have to do some changes.

Yeah yeah Im still awake >.<

Anyway going thorugh everything and letting you know what I know.

Solo queue is pretty much for testing, or learning things. Everyone hates it and even the community manager HiRezDuke, has said he knows the failure that is solo queue in all of these games.

Soon all games will be ranked, you will have a hidden Elo for normals that will match you with same ranked players. This will not fix anything really, as you are still not a "team". Just get 4 friends and do 5 man premade teams and work together.

The personal win loss ration after games is only because they are building a profile for each player but that aspect of the game is not done yet.

There will never be a way to see other people's elo in normal games as they honestly dont matter. They are just to test learn and get some favor.

You can only solo queue for ranked right now, because the system for ranked premade teams are not done yet, they will have them and they have that stated on the screen in game.

AFK/leaving/feeding is actually punished pretty hard. For people that do it all the time and GET REPORTED for it will be banned. You would actually be amazed at the number of people that have already been perma-banned from Smite. In the end tho, a free to play game like this people will just create smurf accounts and do this over and over for eternity. Welcome to the internet.

Ranked games will be open at all times once everything is sorted out, just give it time!

HiRez is well aware of the problems and concerns of the community right now. They are one of the best companies that actually listen to what is going on and they actually play the game with everyone and are in our shoes daily as well. Remember, this game is still in beta and is currently better off compared to what LoL was at the same time period of its development.

Thanks for your concise and helpful answer. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with these problems and that HiRez is working on it.

So do you think that games like this and especially Smite can be fun long term for a player who usually plays solo or with just one additional premade partner?

I am more like playing casually after 8 to 5 work and am not really wanting to get into hardcore gaming again. I usually play with a friend being on teamspeak or skype.

Maybe one will have to join a casual gaming clan or something like this to be able to most of the time have a premade team which works as a team.

Without changes I don`t see how this game can be long term fun for solo players.

Don`t want to keep you away from going to sleep :-P

Oh you are not the reason I am still awake lol no worries there at all.

Yes it can still be fun you just have to look at it as a game and enjoy it for what it is. What is getting you, and most of us, is being teamed with people that seemly are brain dead and fail to understand the simplest things. The problem is with communication. Without that you are hopeless, you can take a pro team and cut them off from all communication and you will see drastic changes in how they play.

You need to just get over that and enjoy the game for what the game itself is, tho I will be the first to admit that is easier said than done.

As you had said a casual gaming group / clan may just be the perfect fit for you. Feaver has posted on forums found here...

https://www.smitefire.com/smite/forum/introductions-matchmaking/join-the-pandemic-feverclan-a-smite-community-43

See what they have to offer and see if that is something you would be interested in.

for the last thing you have said, what it comes down to is YOU. If YOU no longer enjoy the game for solo queue and that is the only option that is there for you then YOU need to either change things around to keep playing, or cut your losses and stop playing. It all comes down to YOU. Im sure there are people around, and when this site really takes off will be even more, people that are in similar cases are yourself and would be more than glad to play with you. I would wait and give it time specially as this is a free to play game, you really have nothing to lose.

Personally what I do as a solo queue player is I use it in the lower levels as an opportunity to build a group of friends. For example, I played against a 3-man premade the other day and went 17-0-8 with Anubis while my brain-dead teammates fed like all hell. After the game I PMed the leader of the pre-made and joined them, and now we play together on a regular basis. If you ever find a good, intelligent player on your team or the enemy's, don't hesitate to friend them and queue together. Chances are they are just as fed up as you with normal queues.

Also, you are placed against opponents with a similar skill level, at least roughly. I made a new account to duo queue with my friend who was playing novices, and went 20/0 or something. The next three games, I played against people who had obviously bought their characters (Thor, Sobek, Hades, etc.). So I think that yes, they do queue you based on skill level, but its still a rough system.

I troll a lot so my skill level went DOWN so bad, I'm at like 100 or something. And when I play ranked, they matched me with people who are in NEGATIVE SKILL LEVEL.

There was one guy who was -400 and some guy -500
