Why are warriors always built tanky?

Hey so one question for warrior mains, Why do you build more tanky items than damage? I’m trying to main ,but I think building damage and attack speed for him is better than building tanky Items.

Also feel free to give me feedback on my Merlin guide after the recent changes . I think it looks a lot better.

You don’t always. Sometimes you can go hybrid or damage (Duel, Jungle role). And then there’s off-meta role picks that may or may not work in a single specific comp in a competitive enivornment (and may or may not be a cheese strat).

Like already mentioned it's mostly their scaling. They don't blow up stuff like assassins or burst mages. Couple this whit their range. This means they need staying power to do as mich damage or be a threat. This is delivered by protections and health items. Hope this helps a bit more to clarify it.

Also because of their "lower" threath with not a full damage builds they won't get focussed as much by burst gods that want to remove a "bigger" threath. Meaning warriors can sometimes ramp up quite some damage too asn an effect. Or help protect the targets.

Because they just don't scale with damage as well as assassins. Warriors scaling on their abilities are lower and the majority of the time they need to get real up and close to use those abilities so if they built full damage theyd get blown up when they got close due to no prots/health

What he said. Chaac can go a bit bruiser with items like void shield and ancile, but you still want health and protections.

Aa stated above its partly to do with the fact that Warriors scale far less and have a a lot of base damage. That alone isnt a significamt enough reason in my opinion as the numbers often even out. The larger issue is the way most warrior kits work. Assassins can go squish because they have big burst and gap closers/quick escapes in their kits.

Most warriors dont have that going for them and as a result struggle to do reasonable damage with glass builds because they get blown up before they can get their damage off. There are some warriors that can perform quite well with damage builds and its more because of their movement abilities or form of CC. to name some. These 3 have means of quickly reaching a target, sustaining through incoming damage, or some combination of the 2. can function well with damage due to his tether and slows. can function because of her 3 styles of attack chains and in kit mitigations/boxing counters. would struggle in the hands of most because he has no big gap closer and his heal requires you to hang on until the burst. So while he can nuke someone up close, he struggles to get there without
