For me, it's may be more interesting to take doom orb/charon's coin instead of obsidian shard (its passive doesn't have a good synergy with Tiamat which spam small damage skills).
With the two items I mentioned, you'll have a lot of extra mobility for a jungler and a decent MP5 regeneration.

You dont really ever consider doom orb in the slot you're taking shard though

This is not to literally replace the obsidian shard bonuses, but more because the various bonuses given by the doom orb are more consistent with the Jungler role and with Tiamat > speed and PM5 (Tiamat consumes a lot of mana).
Knowing that in the stuff there are already 3 other penetration items.
Charon's piece, it replaces more directly the obsidian shard (penetration) while mixing advantages of the doom orb (speed and MP5).

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
