Thanatos flings his scythe at an enemy, dealing damage and an additional 10% of the target's maximum health against enemy gods. Enemies hit are slowed for 3s and heal Thanatos based on damage dealt. Consumes 4% of Thanatos' current HP when used.

Thanatos senses death, gaining immunity to Slow effects and additional move speed and Physical Penetration for 6s. His speed bonus increases up to double when moving toward an enemy god within the instant kill health threshold of his Ultimate. Consumes 4% of Thanatos' current HP when used.

Thanatos flaps his wings and ascends for 5s, unable to be hit. While airborne, he moves unimpeded at an increased speed before diving to his target location, dealing damage. Enemies below a Health threshold are instantly killed. All others are Stunned. Consumes 8% of Thanatos' current HP when used.

Hello Fellow Smite Players!

I am a level 30 smite player that mains Thanatos in the jungle. Now before you click off the build thinking that this build is just a standard Titans bane/Jotunns wrath build look at the items. Thanatos relies heavily on his Death Scythe in the early game to secure kills and get himself fed. A level 3 Death Scythe will half health hunters, warriors and mages in the early to mid game. After his death scythe falls off due to players building more tank items or just relying on the health progession he has to turn into this back line Assassin that can only kill people with his Execute ultimate. This build totally wrecks that mindset. This build will not only make his early game even stronger but make his late game Auto Attacks critical hit over 1000! Thanatos's 3rd hit (AOE) if crit on mages, adc's, or some warriors will crit over 1000 and 2 hit them. I personally find myself easily destroying gods like Nu Wa, all hunters, and Mages like Poseidon, vulcan, etc.

Also, this build includes TONS of lifesteal. This lifesteal will allow thanatos to steal over 200 health per hit. What makes it even better is if he has an enemy minion wave in front of him that he can AOE hit while hitting the enemy god. This will allow thanatos to regain health much faster than his enemies can burst him.

#1 Early game rule: ALWAYS upgrade death scythe until full unless you can upgrade your Ultimate (ultimate comes first)

Tell me if you found this guide usefull and spread the build! We need to make this the new Thanatos META as he has always been out of Meta and tends to fall off late game with the Jotuuns and Titans bane/Talaria boots builds.

Thanatos counters: tanks (any support that can damage you late game), Rama (dash), Bellona

Starting with red pot isn't bad. The HoG nerf made red pot starts viable again. My start on Thanatos is potion of physical might and pots. , , is my core. Rest is situational.

the only reason you should get HoG is if you really need or if you plan on actively counterjungling the other jungler (aka take lvl 2 HoG and then use it to clear the buff/big creep and 1 of the small once leaving 1 of them alive (as that way the camp won't respawn)) and you are not

You shouldn't buy HoG like others have said and you need pen in your build to even a little bit effective. Also building Trans, especially that late, isn't very good because the power isn't very good on a low scaling god like Than and the mana isn't as useful on him. Talaria is also better than Warrior for similar reasons and because extra mobility and sustain early is awesome. I don't play Thanatos that much, but I think something like Jotunn's early and then Brawler's or Titan's would work. After you might build some bulk, then end up building Exec and maybe Qin's to work on your autos. I'm not entirely sure you need Exec since you already have a lot of pen built and in your kit and it is inefficient with Titan's.

I disagree with what you say about HOG and you have no ability to respond to this in a respectable fashion given that you are speaking on the side of walruslyfe, easily the biggest moron in the game.

I do have to agree Hog is rubbish and it honestly seems like a rushed ADC build but i suppose it could work on thanatos. those 1.6k third chain progression sythes are an awe.

Never ever get hog, no matter what. Also this guide is very brief and doesn't explain anything
