Chapter Title

I am a diamond Anubis, and as the item and meta change, Anubis is also changing. Maybe it is still too early to discuss this, but lucky we may figure out some ****. Firstly is the build. Anubis core are CDR boots, Bancroft, spear and Rod. I believe these four is a must because all mage needs damage and pen, Anubis also needs lifesteal as he need to “box”. You may see some Anubis build book, but I personally don't like it because Anubis is an early-mid game force mage, stacking is a waste of time. Defense item like warlock, ethereal staff, high of urchin or breastplate in my opinion is not a viable option because it makes you sacrifices too much damage, Anubis is a burst mage with very low utility, so even if you survive using those defense item, you can't bring much to the table. So what will be the remaining two slots? Gem is always a good pick up on Anubis, but it is a bit expensive. The slows helps a lot , imagine if your support Ares use ult to pull a few members of the enemy team, then your 3 + 1 combo will be very deadly. It also helps if you cannot kill the enemy before your stun ends. Divine Ruin is a must if the enemy team have healing, it also provide 15 % lifesteal and it is cheap as ****. If the enemy team have healing, then I will replace Bancroft with Divine Ruin. Pythagorem' s Piece is very good on Anubis before season 2, the lifesteal combine with Anubis ’s passive and Bancroft is huge. They now added a 10% CDR to it, this only makes it better. I think this item is designed for Anubis. Soul reaver is actually surprisingly good on Anubis too because if you have it and you poke a enemy god with your 2 + 3 combo, he probably need to retreat. If there is 2 or 3 tanky gods in the enemy team, you may want to give it a try. Finally is the chronos pendant. The 25 % CDR combine with the 15% from the boots is 40% which plays a big role in late game. Your ult will be 42 seconds cd and your wrap is 8 seconds cd. But because of the 10 % CDR of Pythagorem' s Piece, overall Chronos pendant now bring less to the table. My item purchasing order is tier 1 Bancroft, then CDR boots, and get Divine Ruin or Bancroft depends on if the enemy team have heal or not. The third item must be spear because pen is important as ****. I personally like to get Rod as the forth item because around that time, I always feel like I need more damage, I don't like to get Rod too late when I am using a mid game force mage. The last two items are situational item, I like to go for Pythagorem' s Piece for the big lifesteal, and the last item is your own preference, just choose from Divine Ruin/Bancroft/Gem/Soul Reaver.
For actives, always get combat Blink, the second active I usually get is Aegis instead of beads because Anubis has no escape, so even if your are CC immune for a few seconds, it is still very hard for you to get out of a teamfight.
Team comp and strategy? In season 1, you can see Anubis played in three roles, mid, solo and jungle. In season 2, jungle Anubis is dead, you can never compare to Thanatos and Thor in contesting **** and ganking. Solo Anubis can still works but I don't like it because Herc/Chacc/Osiris will just **** on you, not to mention Baka and Loki just rape you, there are too many bad match ups in the solo lane. So basically your early game is decent but warriors often still **** on you, and even you farm up, your late game is not comparable to Healing mages and assassins in the solo lane. The best role for Anubis is mid. Because mid has less bad match up for Anubis. Anubis generally does not have a big disadvantage against mages except Ra and Poseidon, a lot of the match ups he cannot win easily but if the enemy mid laner make a small mistake then they are dead. Anubis relies on set up by the support, so double / triple front line is an ideal comp for him.
For example, solo Poseidon, Ymir/Thor jungle, Ares support and Loki adc.
Early game strategy Anubis must starts with tier 1 bancroft, vamp, 1 healing and 2 mana pot. Level up your 1 at level 1, it deals massive damage compare to other damage spells at level 1, therefore you will always clear the red and arrive mid earlier then the enemy mid laner. Wait till your 1 is up ( a few seconds ) and go clear the wave. After you clear the wave, you will reach lv 2 when the enemy mid is still lv 1. Then immediately place your 3 under the enemy mid, he will probably loss 50% of their HP. After this, you basically control the first few mins of mid lane. Then the rest is depending on the match ups.
Mid lane match ups Scylla Scylla is a late game burst mage, if you let her get to late game, she usually will out-shine you. But luckily, Anubis actually is a counter to Scylla, at least before level 8 because her clear is not as good as yours, If you can kill her once before that, the mid lane is yours. Nox Nox is considered one of the OP mage but actually Anubis is not so bad against her, especially after the nerf. Her clear is quite ****ty, if your jungler is early game forced, call a gank before she reach lv 5 , this is the best way to shut her down, or if you reach lv 5 faster than her, you can try to 2+3+ult combo her. After her clear comes online, you don't have a big advantage against her, use your 3 to clear the wave then seek for opportunity to gank other lanes. Ra If you are against a skillful Ra, it can be a tough match. Before lv 5, you will out clear him, but when his 1 can 1 shot the wave, you need to hug the tower, because he will instant clear and use his 3 to heal his minions. Wait until you reach around lv 10 then your clear is good enough to hold the lane. Poseidon He is the perfect counter to Anubis, his 3+4 combo is very effective against immobile gods. He always out clear you in the early game, and he will use 1 and 3 to deal massive damage if you use your 1. Basically, just hug the tower. Vulcan I don't see a lot Vulcan in season 2, but he is still good. His meatball can't stop your 1 after the removal of the stun and his damage is ****ty in early game. You will out clear him and try to 2+3+4 combo him when his backfire is down. If he has his backfire, he will just use it to escape when you walk towards him. Isis Her clear is quite good, but her 1 is her clear and her escape, her 1 ’s range is not so long. So try to wrap her when she use her 1. Your clear is on par with her most of the time. Try not to stay too close to her if you fail to wrap her, if you dodge her 2, she basically loss all her damage cuz her 1 needs to use for the wave. Zeus / Chronos / Freya All three of them has ****ty clear and poke early game, they are generally not a good mid laner, you will not always see them, but if you do see them, you win. Agni His early clear is not so good but you can't really aggress him after he reach lv 5. His ult do too much damage and also his dash makes him so safe. You can’t fight him because almost his entire kit has a longer range than yours. Janus His clear and poke is his 2, and he can’t instant clear until lv 8. Early game he is so weak, but if you just walk towards him and try to wrap him, he will use his 1 and 3 to stop you, so just use blink to close the gap, just like how you do normally. KKK He will out clear you almost all the time, but if you have a chance, just go all in. He has no escape. He Bo His clear and poke is extremely ****ty in early game, you basically has the upper hand, no escape? 2+3+4= profit.
To sum up, Anubis is a little bit stronger in season 2, I think he is always so underrated, especially before Night plays him in SWC :D.
This is all I want to say, maybe this looks like a guild, but whatever, I just want to do some sort of **** about Anubis cuz I LOVE him so much. If I wrote anything wrong, feel free to **** me.

Also disagree with your item choices and that Anubis is only a early-mid game God with no utility. Anubis can be a great asset to the team if built and played properly. A defensive item is a must, not a situational item (although the item can be different based on the enemy team comp). I also disagree with the CDR boots. Shoes of the Magi are the preferred build. CDR can be a great asset, but honestly if you're landing your abilities and not missing, you don't need the CDR.

Bancroft, then Shoes of the Magi, then Magus Spear. That's the core. After that you can be a little more free with the order. Grab Gem of Isolation, maybe Hide of the Urchin, and Rod of Tahuti (my normal build at the moment).

If you're getting your *** kicked, then change out Gem of Isolation for another defensive item.

First of All, this guide was published twice.

Secondly, you have no build, no skill order.

Thirdly this guide looks like an essay and is not only irritating, but PAINFUL to scroll through, trying to find the information you're looking for.

Fourthly, Agni's early game clear is very good.

I beg of you to look at how other people write their guides here and structure yours around that concept.

This guide still needs A LOT of work so you're getting a downvote from me for now at least.
