In order to play Loki well, you need to first understand how he's meant to be played. A lot of people will make common mistakes with Loki such as 1) building him attack speed, and 2) not utilizing Hydra's like they could be. If you want to actually get something out of building Hydra's, use your 1 to initiate, hit them with a basic attack, then use auto-cancelling to quickly use your 3. This way, the Hydra's will apply on your 1 AND your 3, meaning it will proc twice instead of just once.
Early game, you want to focus on farming and staying out of fights as long as your allies aren't in danger. If you try to go for kills too much early on, you'll most likely end up dying and giving the enemy team exp.
Last thing. Too many Loki players don't utilize the decoy as anything more than a farming tool. You have to remember that, while your decoy is active, it is treated by the game as a god. Therefore, you can use your decoy to 1) block attacks that stop once they hit enemy gods, or 2) body-block enemies from escaping.
