The core build is in my opinion, what you should usually use. Since Hel is a high priority target for assassins and warriors, breastplate of valor will help you survive a lot.
If you dont think you need breastplate of valor, you can also buy chronos pendant instead of doom orb and that way you deal a bit more damage but of course are easier to kill for a god that can dive you. In some games you will need anti-heal like divine ruin, so then you can adjust the build to your liking but make sure you always have max cooldown reduction because it's important on this god. If you do start with chronos pendant instead of doom orb, but still want some defense, then hide of the urchin is always a great buy.
Hide of the nemean lion is an optional item for against auto attack assasins that you may be struggling with. But don't buy it too early into the game because it won't give you the other stats you need early on.
Book of thoth start instead of doom orb, is also good because if you buy breastplate of valor you gain extra power from that combination. Soul reaver will also give you extra power. but you'll have a harder early game with book of thoth so keep that in mind
