I've been watching a lot of gameplay of Manikin on Cu Chulainn and it seems pretty broken. If this item changes or something I then would suggest Bluestone instead. With your immediate pressure in lane and Manikin you'll be bopping left and right with your autos. Once transformed, you gain a power increase making your auto do more damage. This in combination with Manikin will secure you first blood if played correctly. Health chalice/pots for sustain. You can also get chalice and multi pots to chug away because their healing stacks. I prefer regular health pots. Blink for early aggression and beads for safety. Or you could get thorns for even more aggression late game.
Some people have told me I'm wrong for building Cu Chulainn ability based, but that's just the best way to utilize him in my opinion. In the jungle I build him hybrid(AA/Ability)but in solo if you build him AA based then you lose out on a lot of his early damage. Boots is a power spike for warriors in solo, opting for Ninja Tabi over Warrior Tabi will result in you losing some of that power spike. Especially because your abilities scale really nicely. Your first ability hits really really hard with power boots, but I suppose since you've built Manikin that you could built Ninja Tabi, but I advise against it. Buy another pot or two for sustain for buy wards for protection and invades.
Mystical Mail is possibly the only option I see fitting for your first defensive item on Cu Chulainn. The amount of pressure you gain in lane amplifies given that the passive does constant tick damage. On top of Manikin you'll be outboxing anyone. If you're against a magical and winning/even I still suggest buying this item as it's going to help you clear and box the mage/guardian. If you're losing to the magical, look into a Runic Shield or some other Magical defensive options. Check "Other Items to Consider" for more details.
When playing Cu Chulainn, think "Defense. Defense. Defense." His base damage is so high already that building hybrid/tank items will not necessarily make you do less damage. The Sledge makes you very tanky in teamfights and skirmishes. The stats along make this a great item as well. The mana being converted to health for him, and health makes you more tanky. It gives you a slight power increase, but all in all the item is unskippable on this character.
Glad shield is a really nice hybrid item for Cu Chulainn, upping his damage output while still keeping him tanky. Giving you a little CDR as well keeps your abilities coming up a little faster. 10% isn't much but we'll get more soon.
Hide of the Urchin passive is nice for the prots but other than that the passive blows. The stats are what we're here for. If you include the prots from the passive, you gain ~51 all prots, health and mana. The mana being converted to more health on Cu Chulainn makes him more and more tanky. The item, while not having an insanely good passive, is still a great item on Cu Chulainn. Yes it takes stacks but in teamfights mid to late game it'll all make sense why you purchase it so late.
I don't find much value out of the upgrades for Manikin on Cu Chulainn. I think there are other items more worth in the late game. Manikin is really good for pressure early game but as late game approaches it loses some of it's value.
Oni Hunter's Garb is great for the passive giving you 15% damage mitigation at all stacks. The stats on the item are really nice too. MP5 is converted to HP5 on Cu Chulainn so your passive healing is increased as well.
Genji's is also great for the stats. Giving you MP5 to HP5, health and a lot of prots. The passive gives you a technical boost in damage because the more you have your abilities up the more damage you'll be doing. CDR isn't the most important thing on Cu Chulainn, but it never hurts.
Hide of the Nemean is only suggested if the ADC is melting you or they have a high AA comp such as Cern/Kali.
Pridwin is such a good item on Cu Chulainn. Another one i find to be unskippable. With all of your prots and health, the shield is a really nice touch. Especially because you want to blink ult the backline and/or the entire team putting you in a dangerous position.
Void shield is just a great item to round out a build. Giving Power, pen and prots. Just a solid item to have as a solo laner.
In this build, I ended up going Oni Hunter's Garb because the mage was blowing me up really quickly and I needed more magical defense. In any other case I would've gone Pridwin then Void shield in place of my boots. I opted for Pridwin because the CDR puts me at 30% with Glad hield. And the shield is roughly 333 health points, means it also deals about 150 magical damage when it explodes. On top of the Mystical ticking magical damage, you're a physical tank doing magical damage nd physical damage. I just don't see where you could go wrong with a build like this.
Void Shield, being explained before, brings so much to the table. I only skipped it because I wanted more CDR and I needed more magical prots. 10/10 item though.
Spirit Robe is deeply underrated. Giving 40 all prots and 10% CDR and 20% CCR with a passive that makes you tankier for 3 seconds every 15 seconds when hit by hard cc. I recommend this item.
Mantle of Discord is really good for that late game safety. Though I preferred Pridwin, I still believe Mantle is a worthy item, granted cc immunity and a stun for 1 second. You can make some plays off that.
Pestilence is really good against high healing comps and in combination with your 1 makes it nearly impossible for any carries to heal when you're diving. Can be swapped for Contagion but I suggest Pestilence as it gives more Health to Cu Chualinn.
Runic shield is great against high magical comps. Maybe a Chronos/Fafnir/Hera making this item have more value. Diving will be easier too see that the item reduces magical power and 9 times out of 10 you're in their faces.
Heartseeker is only purchasable if you are a madman. The damage is nuts and procs on all of your abilities making you walking tank-tank killer. But I only recommend this to further snowball your lead.
Maxing and prioritizing 1 is the best as it is your main for of wave clear. Point skipping at level 8 and leveling your ult and maxing your 1 at 9 is the best method of action. Same thing at level 12 and 13, in order to max you leap. You don't really want to put points into your 2 because most of the time you really do want to transform, and the points can be put into your other two abilities making them more impactful and hard hitting. Your ult does decent damage so putting points into that when you can is good too.
