This is my Agni build that I use in all game types, but I've been most successful in Joust, seeing as I play it the most. Some people look at this Build and question it, but if you pay attention you your items and their abilities, the most you you Mana and you also have a percentage of your Mana is turned into Magical Power, so you build plenty of Mana and a huge amount of damage while being able to survive if you are familiar with Agni and his playing style, plus your cooldown reduction is maxed out at 40. This is my first build, and I've only been playing for a month, but it seems to work for me and my playing style. I average 12+ kills, 2-5 deaths normally, and a handful of assist. I haven't really attempted this to much in Conquest because I normally get out in a scrap team that forfeits, but I know it works well in Joust. I hope it helps someone and enjoy, and any comments or suggestions would be accepted, as I'm still learning the game as I play.

There's a couple things I'd like to address:
1. Book of Thoth's passive is often overrated. I'll break down the numbers.
Though the item itself gives a high amount of power, it's not worth building other items around the passive. Opting to build Shoes of Focus for mana reasons is extremely underwhelming. Shoes give 250 mana which translates to 7.5 power once you have Thoth built. Similarly, Breastplate of Valor gives 9 power.
The reason I'm pointing this out is because not only is it a bad strategy to try and build around Book of Thoth's passive, but it's actually quite unnecessary on Agni. He is one of the most mana-efficient gods let alone mages. It's a good power item but definitely consider other options when looking at phys. defense (Dynasty Plate Helm) and consider Shoes of the Magi.
2. Your first penetration item is built 4th and only provides flat penetration. While this will work for squishies, it's the latest I would recommend getting penetration online as it has a very large impact on your damage. Consider Obsidian Shard if you're struggling to damage mid-end game. Also consider building Spear of Deso sooner.
3. It's a full CDR build. While learning Agni and getting used to aiming his abilities and combo-ing them properly I do think it's useful to have a high CDR build. However, I really think Agni is optimal at a lower CDR. There is huge uptime on Agni's abilities, especially his ults, and it allows him to be able to fight at almost any time. I'm saying this while being used to a 10% CDR build. The more you learn the character, the more you'll understand when to burn combo cooldowns vs just an ability or two. Having said that, it is a personal preference, but I'd really suggest trying lower CDR and seeing how it works for you. It's worth finding what you can get away with to build into some power or health/defense as needed.
4. Final point is that I think starter items help. The only time Agni's mana struggles is levels 1-4 before he has free mana ults. Sands of Time is really helpful for giving some CDR to help early clear/poke uptime and mana to help make it to level 5. Soul stone also stacks well with Agni's passive so it's an option as well.
Cheers!
