Hey guys,
Im an old beta member joined on the day Thor was out then left and came back 1.5months ago, enjoying the game to the full only one question.
How exactly do u counter Chronos? he seems impossible to kill by 1vs1 or 1vs2 even 1vs3, not talking about how hard it is to hit him but the dmg he makes is just crazy and impossible for any ranged carry to even move torword him,I am talking about games with 30-10 score ending 35-40 and chronos the one with the 20+ kills every single match, Aegis doesn't help just give u few seconds to let him position himself better and flash wont help much in killing him, even after landing a stun on him its not enough he just heals himself so fast, and by the time u think u got him he uses Ulti and back to life.

Will be happy to hear about some tips.

cheers

There are two ways of downing Chronos. The first is a very heavy burst of attacks with a stun or silence to block his Ult. Or if your really lucky, Chronos with his Ult down.

The second is the slow bleed. Chronos' Ult is a double edged sword. I've poked Chronos to death so many times with both Apollo and Cupid, its not even funny. Basically, you'll have to draw the fight out and avoid his two casting attacks while slowly taking down his health.

Also, with enough burst, Chronos will die before he can cast his ult.

So, you have two choices, Burst or slow bleed.

I've played chronos a ton, but only in arena...

Early game, chronos isn't that good by himself. His real utility early game is setting up kills for others, with his stun (often to stop loki), and helping burst down runners (he's still a good ks'er). Push him around early game, cause he can't push back much, especially alone.

Mid game to late game, he has his auto-attack build, and can dish out damage fast. Especially with someone who has mastered his hourglass thingy.

The best way to kill chronos is with stun (stop him from running away at super speed, or using his ult in time -- takes 1.5-2 secs to work). Also gem of isolation or slow is enough to over come his super speed (25% less speed is bigger than it sounds b/c its factored at the end, plus your speed should also be above normal...). If used by a class with a slow already, like zhang or posiedon, it literally makes chronos crawl at a snails pace.

Most builds make chronos total offense, meaning he has 2000 health with very little protection. If he's going towards an all offense build, u want to be able to stun him, and do about 2000 damage (with or without a partner) in a short burst.

A very hard counter to chronos is magi blessing. It will prevent him from stunning you, once every 45 seconds. If he can't stun you, its very hard for him to combo you. That 1-shot is very small, delayed ground... If your fast, you can get off it if you aren't stunned.... He only gets his 3-shot once every 13 or so seconds, (maybe 7.3 if he's cooldown reduction build).

He'll still have some mean auto-attack dmg... But with your stun and abiltiies, you're much more likely to come out ahead.

As I said, his dmg is best in someone whose mastered the hourglass. Chronos dmg is much higher if HE chooses when to attack. If you push the attack on him before he's ready, his auto attack dmg will be literally cut in half. Force him to accelerate at the wrong moment. If he's not heavy cool down reduction, their will also be a few seconds gap where he can't accelerate, and even when he can, he has to wait for the right hour glass symbol to double his damage.

Make sure to grab magic defense. Just 100 points, and you halve the damage he does to you (from theoretical zero protection). If he goes defense as well, you're going to have a very hard time kiling chronos, because he's an escape artist, but he should have a pretty hard time kiling you as well. You want enough that you can at least absorb his stun/burst and live long enough to burst back...otherwise he'll be running to you first all day.

Edit... One more thing. A lot of classes, including thor have ultimates that make them immune to stun while they are channeling it. Chronos's stun takes effect on the second tick, that is after 1 second, so if you are very fast, you can get out of the stun with an ability, like an ultimate or some other that makes u immune to the stun.

Try playing Freya .Early game he won't be bothering you ,mid game he can be annoying but he may not kill you which may give you enough time to watch his moves , see what he tends to do when he is attacked or chased or when he wants to attack .This will come very useful late game when you will be able to kill him despite his ultimate .Banish him then finish him with your 1 , he won't stand a chance and his ultimate will be too slow for him to get away .If you'll have polinomicon you will finish him off with just 3 sword swings , he will be killed before he even finds "4" on his keyboard .

Another way would be Anubis , but his 2 will be pretty difficult to hit Chronos .Chronos can stand 2-3-4/1 combo , he is too squishy and his ultimate is too slow to escape before he gets killed .

If you don't want to buy/play these gods in case Chronos will be in a match , you should build your god speedy a bit to easily avoid his 3 and some of his attacks .Either a Fatalis for attack or witch stone for attack speed and physical protection which can be pretty useful .A crowd control reduction might be useful too to get out of his 3 earlier so Hide of the leviathan might be the best choice since it provides some health , mana and protections too .

I'd like to add one thing to chrono's counters. I've been going up against chronos as other classses (not just chronos v. chronos, I'm diversifying...), and I found creeping curse invaluable. It has a huge radius, so you just need to be generally near him, u don't have to land a skill shot or anything, and it will reduce him to a crawl, reduce his attack speed 30%, and make him easy for you or your team to pick off. His only counter is to get sprint, winged wand, or beads..., which he vary rarely does (and usually for other reasons, ares...)

Like I said, gem of isolation / binding is also great. I put one on ares, didn't even need to land chains, just flames which is a cone aoe, and it slows him, making him easy to pick off or land chains after.

Romanians is generally right, most every chronos is pure offense, so if he doesn't have any defense (tab...look how much magic/phys protection he has), he can be burst down easy by some classes before he can get his ult off (freya, loki, Hebo, or another chronos imparticular). If he has between 100-150 he can prolly get it off solo, even if those classes are fully built.

Chronos is basically the god of 1v1 as far as mages go - he's made to be a duelist. He's useful with his abilities, and then useful with his auto attacks, without having the two merged together like Freya. As such, it's very very hard to 1v1 him ever, but at least he's more mediocre in team fights due to the lack of an AoE ult.

How to counter him though, splits into three paths: God Picking, Itemizing, and Gameplay

For God Picking, pick: An AoE god who won't miss their spells (Zhong Kui is a recommended from this sector), a god with very hard lockdown and follow-up (Such as Anubis or Thor), or Zeus. Zeus's shield hard counters Chronos, as you have better spells, and his auto attacks will ruin him if he just tunnel-visions into your shield.

For Itemizing, a Witch stone is good on a very offensive god, Midguardian Mail if they have a physical god you're also worried about (Phys to stop an Assassin, Attack Speed Debuff to stop a chronos with a nice movement speed debuff to line him up), or if you're still having major trouble, Magi's Blessing to stop his Stop Time (ironic, isn't it?), as that's most of his ability chain: Stop Time into Time Rift into Enhanced Auto Attacks. For an active, as Blinkicide mentioned, Enfeebling Curse ruins him, and lets you line him up once again.

For Gameplay, as hard as it is, avoid that Stop Time. It's invaluable to avoid that. In laning phase, push him to the tower, as his only waveclear is stop time, which is also most of his harass, and most of his escape (if he uses Stop Time it's basically a free gank from your jungler if he's ANYWHERE away from his tower). Once he starts getting items and can duel better, simply avoid his Stop Time and punish him for overaggression, especially if you're a god like Eset, Anubis, Zeus, or Agni, as all have decent stuns with high burst. In teamfights, just focus him - he has no way to deal with multiple threats outside his ult, and as mentioned, he's super super squishy, and could melt before it even goes off. Hell, I've played Loki and killed him before he fires it off, not even counting any CC chains your team could use. With a Chronos, their team WILL lack AoE damage - Junglers and Carries generally don't have an AoE ult (excluding unconventional jungle picks, or Cupid). Take advantage of this and stay grouped together for an onslaught onto him.

TL;DR, itemize around him, get a CC or Burst-oriented god, and focus on his squishiness/lack of waveclear
Source: Very in depth knowledge of Chronos, including a guide, and very in depth knowledge of the gods that counter him, like Loki and Zeus.
