I had this problem the first time I played ranked as well. People were pisssed.
After everyone selects it goes into a god trading phase. It'll put little circular arrows next to peoples names that you can trade with. You click trade, they click trade, it swaps.
The added problem now is you have to be adept in the god they have or you can't trade with them (not confirmed but im fairly sure I read the patch notes right). So in theory if you didn't have adept in any other gods the team selected you couldn't swap.
