I'd like to propose the Goddess Agdistis as a playable support god, not many people have heard of her name or her story, but perhaps by adding more lesser known gods to the Smite roster it will give the player base a richer view into mythology that helped sculpt our modern world; beliefs & morals.

Mythology

Agdistis was the child of "The Great Mother" Gaia after she was accidentally impregnated by a slumbering Zeus, whose seed fell from the heavens as he slept. She was a creature born with two sexes, having both male & female genitalia. The gods feared Agdistis and poisoned her drinking well with a sleeping drought; once Agdistis had fallen asleep her male genitalia was severed and thrown down upon the earth. Her blood fertilized the ground and from it an Almond tree ripe with fruit grew and later Nana a daughter of the river god Sangarius, they say, took the fruit and laid it in her bosom, it quickly disappeared and shortly after Nana was with child. The child Attis of Nana & Agdistis was born, and quickly abandoned by Nana.. He was raised and tendered by a he-goat and grew into a man whose beauty was god-like (oh I wonder why) whom Agdistis as Cybele fell in love with. He was however to marry the daughter to the king of Pessinus. Shortly after the wedding commenced and music began to play Agdistis appeared enraged, the guests and all mortals inside were driven mad by her power, this led the King & Attis to castrate themselves and the bride to slice off her breasts. But Agdistis, repented of what she'd done obtained from Zeus the promise that the body of Attis should not decompose nor disappear.

Cult & Worship

Although primarily an Anatolian Goddess, the cult & worship of Agdistis covered a good deal of territory. By 250 BC worship of her had spread to Egypt, and later in the Attica cities of Piraeus (3rd & 4th Century BC) and Rhamnus around 80 BC (an ancient abandoned Greek city where sanctuaries of Agdistis and Nemesis were built) the island of *****s and the ancient Greek city of Panticapeum followed some time later.

Inscriptions honoring her have been found at Mithymna and Paros. In the 1st century BC, her shrine in Philadelphia in Asia Minor required a strict code of behavior. At that location and others she is found with "theoi soteres". Inscriptions found at Sardis from the 4th century BC indicate that priests of Zeus were not permitted to take part in the mysteries of Agdistis.

Scholars have theorized that Agdistis is part of a continuum of androgynous Anatolian deities, including an ancient Phrygian deity probably named "Andistis" and one called "Adamma", stretching all the way back to the ancient kingdom of Kizzuwatna in the 2nd millennium BC. There is also some epigraphic evidence that in places Agdistis was considered a healing goddess of wholly benevolent nature.

Fun Facts

Fun Fact #1 ~ The androgyny of Agdistis was seen as symbolic of a wild and uncontrollable nature. It was this trait which was threatening to the gods and ultimately led to her castration.

Fun Fact #2 ~ Agdistis was also considered nothing more than a title for the Phrygian Goddess Cybele. It's also thought that Agdistis became known as Cybele after the castration of her male genitalia.

Fun Fact #3 ~ Another interesting detail surrounding her mythology is the castration of Agdistis' male genitalia which resulted in the pregnancy of a virgin woman, this may have even influenced or inspired slight details for the future religion; Christianity.

Summary & Conclusion

I of-course use the title "Goddess" because even though she was born both sexes, the removal of her male genitalia left her a female (albeit with a few scars) this extraction which resulted in her affirmed sex would make her (and here is an interesting twist) a transexed female.

Having a much wider variety of gender & sex non-conforming divine beings will increase understanding by the player base as a whole...

I think due to her believed benevolent nature & image as a healing goddess she could be just that.. a healing goddess :)

We have too many hacky-slashy types already

And as a regular player of Aphrodite and as healers in general I'd love some more options other than Hel or Chang'e.

Input into the development of Agdistis' concept is greatly appreciated!!! <3
