Morana

Goddess of Winter and Death

Morana is the slavic goddess of winter and death (more specifically the death of winter into rebirth of spring). She is known to be considered an evil goddess in Slavic mythology given the fact where the Slavs were based, the winters were harsh and people and cattle/livestock were hindered by it. People in Slavic mythology to this day on the Spring Equinox fashion effigies of Morana and cast it into the river to praise the end of winter and beginning of spring.

In SMITE I envision Morana being a sustained damage mage, similar to a warrior level of gameplay, and see her being played mainly in the solo lane. She uses her trusty crescent blade to damage enemies and with her abilities she brings a good amount of sustained damage and is rewarded the longer the fight goes.

Pros: Medium Area Damage, High Sustain

Passive Ability

Eternal Cold
Damaging an enemy god with an ability applies a stack to both you and the god for 4 seconds; stacking up to 3 times. After 3 stacks Morana’s next ability cast will grant the Eternal Cold buff to herself. If the enemy god has 3 stacks then the next ability to hit them within 4 seconds will also apply Eternal Cold to them as a debuff.

While Eternal cold is active a winter storm swirls around yourself and any enemy gods applicable for a short duration. For each second Morana stays in combat with an enemy god or epic monster the duration of this is increased. If she stays in combat with an enemy god affected by Eternal Cold then the duration on theirs is also increased.

For Morana she gains bonus movement speed and damages nearby enemies every 0.5 seconds & heals for a % of the damage she deals. For enemy gods they take damage every 0.5 seconds and will be slowed for the duration. Enemies take 50% reduced damage if hit by any additional storm damage & enemies hit on the outer radius of the storm will have half the slow applied.

Once the storm has faded, the stacks will reset.

Storm Radius: 20

Base Lifetime: 4 seconds (increasing by 0.5 seconds for every 1 second remaining in combat)

Max Lifetime: 8 seconds

Damage: 10-25 (+ 5% magical power)

Movement Speed: 5% + 0.5% per level

Heal: 25% of pre-mitigated damage dealt (33% effective for AoE abilities)

Slow: 20%

Primary Abilities

1
Hypothermic Attacks
Type: Stim
Affects: Self and Enemies
Damage: Magical

Morana enhances her crescent blade to be coated in ice; dealing bonus damage on her next 3 successful attacks within 6 seconds. The Ice then shatters off the target; dealing the damage to enemies in a 35 range cone behind them. If the same enemy is hit by all 3 basic attacks then Morana siphons a part of their soul to take to the underworld; dealing bonus damage and gaining a shield. Cooldown starts after the full duration or all attacks are used; whatever comes first.

Damage per Attack: 30/40/50/60/70 (+ 20% magical power)

Bonus Damage: 10/30/50/70/90 + 7.5% target’s maximum health

Shield Value: 50/60/70/80/90 + 7.5% maximum health for 2 seconds

Cost: 55/60/65/70/75 mana
Cooldown: 14 seconds
2
Spawn of Effigy
Type: Summon
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Magical
Range: 45

Morana passively gains a magical power buff each time she and an effigy attack the same target; refreshing the duration on successive hits.

Morana summons an effigy at the targeted location for a short duration that attacks nearby enemies (prioritising enemy gods). You can control where the effigy attacks by recasting this ability. While the effigy is active it too can have Eternal Cold applied to it acting as a buff and refreshing each time you or it attacks an enemy god. The effigy uses a portion of Morana’s attack speed and health. Cooldown starts upon effigy full lifetime or death, whatever is first.

Magical Power Buff: 20/25/30/35/40 for 3 seconds

Effigy Lifetime: 6/6.5/7/7.5/8 seconds

Effigy Health: 3 hits (AoE and DoT abilities take ½ a hit each tick while basic attacks deal 1 full hit) + 1 hit per 250 bonus health from Morana gained from items.

Effigy Attack Speed: 75% Morana’s attack speed

Effigy Movement Speed: 375/400/425/450/475

Effigy Basic Attack Damage: 50/55/60/65/70 (+ 15% magical power)

Cost: 75 mana
Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14 seconds
3
Traversing Cold
Type: Dash
Affects: Self
Range: 45

Morana tumbles forward a short distance avoiding all basic attacks while tumbling. After tumbling Morana gains bonus damage on her basic attacks for a short duration. While this buff is active Morana also gains bonus attack speed if she or an effigy is in an area of, or if they themselves are affected by, Eternal Cold.

Bonus Damage: 25/35/45/55/65 (+ 10% magical power) for 5 seconds

Attack Speed: 20/25/30/35/40%

Cost: 75 mana
Cooldown: 16 seconds

Ultimate Abilities

4
Prevailing Winter
Type: Line Unique
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Magical
Range: 55, 75

Morana sends a ball of winter storm forward after a brief delay, being CC immune for the first 2 after casting. If the ball hits no enemy god it will stop at the end of the line before shattering, damaging enemies within 15 radius and causing a large wall of ice to branch horizontally. The wall can be broken with 4 hits.

If this hits an enemy god it will stop where it is and stun them as well as any enemies within 20 range of them before summoning the wall of ice just behind them & instantly creating Eternal Cold to both yourself and any enemies caught in the radius. The wall is horizontal from the direction Morana was facing when she fired the ability.

Damage: 150/200/250/300/350 (+ 60% magical power)

Stun Duration: 1.5 seconds

Wall Lifetime: 5 seconds

Cost: 100 mana
Cooldown: 90 seconds
