Hanuman is a monkey. He was born when his mother was praying to vayu, the god of the wind. At the same time a king of ayodhya, Dasharatha, was also praying for children and was granted pudding. He gave it to his 3 wives and rama was born from one of them. Some of this pudding fell from a kite(the bird) and vayu guided it into the hands of Hanuman's mother which she ate and Hanuman was born. As Hanuman grew up he once thought the sun was a ripe fruit and leapt up to try and eat it. He was then struck in the jaw by Indra and is killed. Vayu angered by Hanuman's death makes all air in earth disappear and suffocates all humans. Shiva then intervenes and revives Hanuman. Indra then grants Hanuman to not be hurt by his vajra and that Hanuman's body would be as strong as it in order to compensate for killing him. Other gods also granted Hanuman wishes such as fire, water, and wind won't hurt him, he becomes as fast as the wind, and he can move to anywhere he wants and cannot be stopped.
