Pros of Sobek
1. He can play the guitar with his axe.
2. Excellent isolator/puller
3. Can both heal AND replenish mana
Cons of Sobek
1. No escape once using his 1, and you mostly likely already used it for attacking purposes before you try to escape with his 1.
2. You can VERY easily f*** your team up if you don't use your 1 properly
3. EXTREMELY team-dependent. Never go around thinking that you can be the lone wolf.
FOREWORD:Do what YOU must do to suit YOUR game! These items are all situational, and obviously I can't cover EVERY situation you will be facing. Definitely experiment/ try out your own items and change the item build to suit your situation. However, the above items should be just fine about 90% of the time (I play Sobek a lot, mkay? Trust me :P)
1. Reinfored boots- This item is essential for all tanks IMO. It provides all the stats Sobek mainly needs (DEFENCE!) and a nice touch of 21% more movement speed and 30% CC time
reduction.
2. Breastplate of Valor- The main reason for buying this is for the mana. Sobek is magic
based, and the extra mana will help once you start building a small amount of Magic Damage.
3. Void Stone- This is an essential item for Sobek. Not only does this give you magical
protection AND damage, it will also decrease the magical defence of nearby enemies, making your abilities 2 and 3 do more damage.
4. Midgardian Mail- This item is mainly for health. In addition to this, there is a 30% chance of slowing enemies with your basic attack, giving you more chance of hitting the enemy with abilities.
5. Magi's blessing- Because you've bought 2 physical defence items, balance it out with Magi's blessing. This will also give you an aura that absorbs an enemy ability per minute,
allowing you to initiate a little more easily.
6. Rod of Tahuti- This item is situational, but Rod of Tahuti will allow Sobek to do some
serious damage in late-game, making Sobek much stronger.
7. Hide of the Nemean Lion: A no-brainer item against AD gods.
8. Sovereignty: Health and ally physcial defence aura. Excellent for team fights.
9. Pythagorem's piece: Lifesteal helps with sustain while your abilities will do more damage as well as a magical boost team aura, helping out in teamfights.
Note:
"These are all the same items except in diffrent order! You're a dumb dumb."
Well, yes. What I did was pick out a small number of items Sobek needs and just switched the priorities to suit your early game enemies.
E.g: Lane against 2 AD gods? Get AD defence items first, and vice versa with AP enemies.
Passive. Armor of the Nile
This is activated when you successfully hit an enemy with your auto-attack, and can be stacked upto 3 times.
1. Charge Prey: MOST IMPORTANT ABILITY FOR SOBEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should mainly use this to keep your enemies AWAY from your team (when they're chasing your team) or pull the enemy towards your tower/teammates
2. Tail Whip
Use this with your 1. After you hook your enemy w/ your 1, the short knock up in the air will give your teammates more time to do what they need to do on your enemies.
3. Sickening Strike
I mainly use this to heal myself and clear minions, but in teamfights you should know that this ability decreases the healing amount of your enemies.
4. Lurking in the Waters
THIS ABILITY SHOULD NOT BE USED JUST TO REPLENISH YOUR MANA-GET MANA POTS FOR THAT
A great initiating tool other than your 1. I normally use this to Escape from difficult situations- When enemis use their CC's (e.g. Sun Wukong/Cupid) dive into the water and either run back to your teammates or initiate the fight by charging the enemies
I hope I've made a decent guide for Sobek, my favourite tank in the game so far.
I am quite proud of my very first guide.
All criticisms are welcome, but please bear in mind that this was my very first guide for ANY website.
Thank you for reading my Sobek guide and have fun tossing around your enemies!
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
