Freya's Lore

Smite God Freya Valkyries, the elite and angelic warriors of the Nordic Pantheon, are as beautiful and dangerous as a midnight winter storm. Yet their queen, Freya, so irresistibly desirable, so uncompromising in warfare, make the Valkyries seem nothing more than plain paper dolls. She's the object of desire for every God, every man, and the envy of every woman. Even the Frost Giants crave her for their own, often devising devious plans to trick or force her into marriage. But Freya is proud and strong, with the cunning to escape her enemies and ruthlessly retaliate. Every rose bears thorns, but this one wields swords.

Were it up to her, Freya would have little to do with blood and blades. Her name literally means "the lady," and none of more worthy of the title. She adores bright flowers, pleasant company, and the sweet lilt of a sad love song. She's sensual and amorous, invoked by worshipers seeking to bear a child or find a lover. Ruler of the realm of Sessrumnir, a place much like Valhalla, where the souls of dead warriors spend eternity, Freya provides comfort and bliss to the fallen.

Once, Freya was married to the mysterious and elusive God, Od. Immediately following their wedding, Od went on a journey to distant and inhospitable lands. So long was he gone the Gods presumed him dead. Distraught and heartbroken, Freya spilt tears of gold and searched the globe for him. Finally, she discovered him ship-wrecked and twisted into a hideous sea monster. Melancholy but loyal, she stayed and comforted him. Thought one night, while she slept, a daring hunter slew the beast Od had become. Moved by Freya's utter despair, the Gods agreed to allow Od into Sessrumnir, despite the fact that he had not died in battle, so he and Freya could remain together forever.

Based on a quick custom 1 v 1 match vs. a bot, I confirmed that Pulse/ Irradiate do NOT add damage to a tower. I did the same damage with both activated as with neither active.

Reasoning is: towers do not take ability damage, only basic attack. It would make sense if these abilities did do extra damage, but what's actually happening is that they are only piggy-backing onto the basic attack and have their own damage added on. So, Pulse by itself may be good to use against towers, only so that you don't have to be right on the tower and can hit it from some distance...pulse does two things...makes basic attacks ranged, and adds extra damage...so the range part is still functional.

There is no silly question! ;)
Never tried, but it should. Basically, Pulse + Irradiate is the basic combo for Freya that buffs her basic attack. As towers are vulnerable to basic attack (but not abilities) it should work.

Question is : should you do it?
If you do, you're using mana that can put you in a bad position later, forcing to leave your lane earlier, allowing the enemy team to farm faster than you. This applies also for steroids (attack speed boost abilities) for hunters. If you are retreating just after and it's safe to do it, sure, do it. If you don't have vision of the jungle and think you can get ganked by the jungler... maybe not the best idea. Freya does not get any health back from hitting a tower, while she does against minions.

Alright. So im gonna ask something that may seem stupid, but ive been doing it for a while now.
Since Pulse makes her basic attack ranged, would combining that with Irradiate do extra tower damage?
Curious because ive been doing that lately and im not really sure if its been doing extra tower damage or not. I feel like im strangley wasting an ability along with mana.
All my Freya experience came out of Arena.

Yeah, I like that they downed it and let us pick up mana and HP pots now. That is a good change and sets up a format and a little bit more thinking on my end.
Ill still prolly end up trying that out and running mid with her for the heck of it. Never know, people know she is terrible mid and if it works you might just catch people off and run mid really strong getting fed and being able to have awesome side lane ganks.

Only problem is that meditation is terrible and wastes a very important slot.
I think since you have to blow an ability spot you might as well just play her in a side lane and build as a normal full magic carry with Poly....untill they fix that nice little bug lolol.

So others, like DJmantiss, dont freak out...
This is my opinion of my knowledge of trying to get the best for your team in higher level play.

I totally agree. Shes not great mid at all but it is possible for all of those that want to try it out etc. Meditation really does blow an ability slot and since they reduced it from 3 down to two slots i hardly ever take it.

Best Freya guide so far imo. Built it almost the same way so far, but with fatalis and never was really happy with it. Although I'd chose a Purification Beads as an ability exactly for the mentioned counter-ultimate against Anubis. Despite of that, the item build looks great to me and I did some awesome games with it (especially the first one with gem of isolation; I prefer this one cause of the higher survability which comes in handy when playing against experienced opponents).

Great thing about Freya is that shes great with almost every god in lane and even has potential to mid lane; bit imo she works best with tanks or stunners (like Anubis, cupid etc).

Keep it up, great guide!

I did a 1v1 against AK, that was just painful. 2k gold ahead before 10min mark.

I did 1v1 against Ares. Early game was okay but late game I couldn't do a damn thing to him.
