Sobek's Lore

Smite God Sobek Hunter, guardian, destroyer, menace; the Crocodile God, Sobek, swims where the Nile takes him and owes allegiance to no one.

Some say that Sobek was there when only the Dark Waters existed, so he helped create the world. Some say that Sobek made the Nile with his sweat and protects those that travel it if they pay him tribute, otherwise he destroys them. Some say that Sobek ushers the worthy dead down the Nile to the afterlife and aids in their rebirh, restoring sight and strength. Some say he is evil and hateful, ravaging those along the shores and terrorizing villages. Sobek, in truth, is all of these things and none.

Sobek is not a God of good or evil, of benevolence or malice, but a God of solitary neutrality, unless disturbed; a God that tends to his mighty river and performs his responsibilities to passing souls. The rest of time, he does what he wishes. For his protection to the living and the dead, he is to be worshipped and respected. For his power, ferocity, and ruthlessness, he is to rightfully feared.

Athena and Ymir both play very different roles from Sobek. They're both very tanky and have large AOE CC, their job is more to be in the middle of a fight and control as many enemies as possible. Sobek is more about pulling a single target out of a fight and targeting them with your team. In a teamfight, Sobek has more limited options compared to Athena and Ymir, but his self-heal and knockup give him more of a bruiser feel than a guardian one, his damage is actually quite good. Some important tactics to remember is that you can use your Charge Prey defensively as well as offensively, peeling enemies off your teammates or using it as an escape and that you can also use your ultimate to get out of sticky situations since it's a VERY long CC immunity.

I do that, but I guess you cant play him as your traditional Gaurdian. I can play Athena Hades Ymir inside of a team fight and last rather well depending how my team performs around me, and then I tried out Sobek and it was all different. I love the pull but he gets wrecked. I see hes one of the top guardians, but Im not seeing or understanding why. I just feel like Guardians would be able to with hold in a team fight for a bit. I had a full build in joust but Ah Puch and Awilix killed me extremely fast.

His defense is meh, but his passive gives him a fair amount if you keep it up and his self-heal gives him more effective health than some if you use it on 3 enemies (ie: the minion wave).

Leveling up Sickening Strike first definitely makes him feel tankier if you're not doing that.

He's only hit or miss if you're missing his pull, which just takes practice.

I can see his counter heal and crowd control, but his defense feels rather low on the guardian side. Ive been playing a lot of Support, but he takes damage pretty weak.

So I dont know what makes this character good at all. Ive been using him quite a bit actually and hes just extremely hit or miss. It says he has high defense, but I get shredded regardless of what I build or who I play against and I play VERY safe in games, his mana is terrible, his damage is really ****... What am I missing here?

SOOOOOOOBEK

His voice is hilarious and he's one of the best tanks, not to mention one of the most fun. Charge Prey is ridiculously good, you can use it for pure mobility but also to set up ganks, initiate in teamfight, or just have the threat of it there during laning which will keep squishies very cautious around you. His other abilities are nice but that dash makes the cake. And he's a crocodile. Fave tank forevar
