Item is 100% garbage and one of those "Troll" items.

It has no base stats on it. From that point this item is not worth buying at all. I really only see new players build it because they see That it has 35% attack speed. Buying this item and then others with attack speed that are better items actually make those better items worse because of DR from that attack speed. Each time you buy attack speed, the vlaue of it goes down and down.

I have even heard directly from Hirez community manager himself, Fatalis is for trolling.

This doesn't escape the simple fact that with Fatalis damage output is unstoppable. And the item states '30% Chance on basic hit vs God to deal 10% of target's max health as magic.' Is there something i'm missing here? Because to me, in theory it should kick ***, more attacks equals more chance for this to prot. In-game ive also found my damage to be stupidly high?

You are missing the fact of no base stats. Without base stats you are going to attack fast, but for no damage at all. There are just simply better items.

I have asked 2 "pros" what they think of this item and they both said the same thing.
This is a copy from what one of them said about the item.

"i dont buy fatalis as it has no base stats having no stats is a waste of gold. sure you might have good cooldown and attack speed but what it comes down to is the stats. it only hinders futher items attack speed and you can build items that equal the speed and also give you those much needed stats. id rather hit fast and hard than just fast and low."

Please dont take offense or look at this as a flame, context here in words is hard and I by no means mean disrespect at all!

I just tried a game taking the other attack speed items and left out Fatalis and completely agree with you :') I do understand now, the game I just played and that 'Pros' explanation has just clicked together in my brain.

Im going to make changes to my builds accordingly. I feel there might still be situations in which it could be off use, but for the majority a higher physical damage item as you said, like heartseaker helps in the long run.

So is there a Cap on Attack Speed basically?

Im sure there may be a situation where Fatalis is decent but as of right now I can not think of a single time to use it. Maybe some speed based God or something of the sort will make it good.

Think of it this way.

You have base attack speed, but for this example ignore it.
You buy a 50% attack speed item and your attack speed is no 50% faster.
You have 50% left to get to 100%, but each time you add that value is lower.
So you build the same item thinking you are going to reach 100% attack speed but in reality you are only getting 50% of the remaining 50%. So you are now at 75% attack speed gaining 25% speed. you are now 25% away, you build that item again!
Now you get 50% of the 25% that is left, giving you an increase of only 12.5%.

This is a VERY simplefied way of looking at DR (Diminishing returns)
This works with all percent stats of items.

I absolutely disagree with everything that you guys say. But mainly because have 95% faster attack speed is worth it with the build I use. And in game, I always go at least 5-1 kd ratios. Fatalis is definitely one of my favorite items, low cost, early game fast attack speed + 20% cd reduction makes carries like baka/monkey/thor amazing.

I looked up some of your recent games in SMITE stats to see your builds. Your item choices don't seem optimal and most games you either break even at best or go with 5+ more deaths than kills.

I'd say one of the biggest reasons for this is your emphasis on Fatalis on almost every type of character (including tanks) and opting for Heartseeker in Domination/Arena where it is essentially impossible to sustain stacks.

I'm not saying Fatalis is a useless item, just that it is not optimal in most circumstances and on most characters.

I personally do not find Fatalis to even be close to a good choice early game though, as raising your damage power or protection levels is much more useful at this point. This is because you need to make every hit count, Fatalis is more of an item designed to make hard hitting characters hit more often. Early game it cannot serve this purpose.

Is it, Harry?
I should play Heartseeker in the next Domi game.
