If you're noticing more people using Odin, it's because in general, warriors got a bit of a buff in the new Season 3. Odin in particular got a very significant boost to his ultimate...the length of time his Ring of Spears exists is now 6 seconds (which is an eternity), and he can now walk through them (he used to be trapped in his own ring, unless he used Lunge to jump out). This definitely makes him "stronger" than before.
Keep in mind, in Conquest, he's probably best played in the solo lane, and he has been designed as a stronger early to mid-game god. His effectiveness shifts in the late game, as his damage falls off, but his ultimate is still a very effective zoning tool and extremely functional in teamfights.
Nothing really changed for him other than his rework back in the Kukulkan patch along sides with arachne bedsides the rework and increase to movement speed, nothing really changed about him.
The removal of Combat Blink from the game has circumstancially buffed his ultimate as well, as characters who lack a leap have no viable counter build options to combat the ult.
