Grandfather Frost

Herald of Winter

After the heavy snowfalls of winter, for a short time, the world seems to stop. The cold air hangs off the
branches of the evergreens shrouded in snowflakes, seemingly suspended in time. And in this quiet stillness
Grandfather Frost roams, traveling gracefully from town to town in his troika, pulled by his 3 magnificent
steeds. Everywhere he goes, joy and merriment follow, bringing a simple respite from the harshness of winter
and life. But those who find no joy or comfort in the act of helping others, Grandfather Frost leaves only
the freezing chill of the night.

Playing Grandfather Frost

Grandfather Frost's kit is based around protecting his allies by buffing them with his 1 and debuffing enemies with his 2 and 3. If the situation gets a bit dicey, he can summon his troika and ride off with his allies, possibly saving a horrible situation. Or if you want to go hog wild with the boys, you can ride into a group of enemies and surprise them. The primary goal when playing Grandfather Frost should be controlling an area with your team . The one thing you don't want to do with Grandfather Frost is go around solo. He doesn't really have the damage to take fights, and by the time he does get someone low some other enemy is probably gonna show up and beat him up.

Personality and Design

Grandfather Frost is a kindhearted and merry old man. He should also have a sort of regal speech pattern but without coming off as rude. Design wise, he should use the traditional blue/white color scheme, wearing a large fur coat and warm fur boots (just like his passive). Grandfather Frost will wield the Staff of Winter, a simple but elegant white staff. The top of the staff should resemble a snowflake.

The Vision

When brainstorming Grandfather Frost, I wanted to focus on 2 aspects of his character; his general merriment and his control over winter. I felt that both aspects could be fulfilled in a support role, so I decided to make him a support guardian, in a similar vein to Yemoja (in that he's a guardian mage hybrid). Given that Grandfather Frost isn't shown doing much fighting in his stories, I wanted to make him more of a pacifist character that focuses on buffing his teammates and debuffing his enemies. To support his merriment aspect, I made his first ability kind of kick start a party (otherwise known as a fight) by getting his teammates hyped despite the cold that could be present (any cc that could stiffen your team's sick party). His ult also reflects the party outlook on life by letting you grab your boys and go for a sick Russian sleigh ride, choosing to either escape to party another day or engage and bring the party straight to the enemy. His 2 and his 3 were geared more for the second aspect, Frost's control over winter. In most stories his staff is able to freeze most anything it touches/anything in an area, so I thought it would be fitting for him to freeze everything in a cone. Since winter is a time when everything kinda stops, I wanted his 2nd aspect to focus on lowering the enemy's effectiveness. To that end, I gave his 2 an attack speed debuff. His 3 is a nice trap if you can land it, and I wanted to implement the cooldown increase mechanic because it reflects the increase of time for labor in the winter.
