Listen closely, because I'm going to explain why this build is better than you think
First of all, this guide is only for conquest. Builds that work in Arena or any other gamemode are not guaranteed to be good in conquest. Also, if you're a person who cannot handle losing something, Amaterasu is not the god for you. If you want to play her to her full potential, you need to learn that giving up things such as your Blue Buff, Minions to you Tower, or even a First Blood is part of playing the God. Amaterasu's laning phase is so bad, but her mid to lategame teamfights are so strong, think of her as a high risk, high reward God.
Part 1 : The start
There are 3 starter items that I would recommend building on Amaterasu in the Solo, Bluestone Pendant, Mark Of The Vanguard, or Death's Toll.
- When you're up against a lane bully with too much poke in their kit, get MoV for the extra survivability, or Death's Toll for the sustain. Examples for these gods are : Ravana, Sun Wukon, Tyr.. Note that MoV makes Tyr pretty much useless early on.
- If you're up against gods that are not as dominating in lane, such as Guan Yu or Hercules, go for the Bluestone for the extra clear. Also note that Amaterasu is a hard counter for Guan Yu because the silence on the dash wil completely shut down his clear.
Many players say that Amaterasu can fully clear the wave at level 9, but it's wrong. Amaterasu can fully clear the wave starting at level 4, by activating her Valor Aura (Red), activating the Mirror, and then dashing through the wave. If you're having a hard time clearing, consider dashing through the wave and then activating the Benevolence Aura (Yellow) to go into the jungle and circle back to your tower through the Fire Giant Pit.
It is also important to fully utilize your passive. To do that, you must hit the front minion of the wave 3 times before using your abilities to clear, that way you will deal 10% damage to the whole wave.
You have to always remember to go for the Fire Elementals, as they provide you with 90 gold and a quite a bit of xp that would allow you to gain a lead on the enemy laner.
However, you should never give up a wave to the towers and go do the Elementals or your Blue Buff, even if your Jungler or the Enemy is there. This should be common sense for playing in the Solo lane, but you can never stress it enough. The minion wave is always worth more than any jungle camp.
If you're ahead of the enemy solo laner and it's mid-game, consider invading their Blue buff, or the enemy's Speed buff. Another thing to do when you're ahead is proxying waves. However, if you're a beginner when it comes to the Solo Lane, or if you don't have enough vision, you should not even consider invading or proxying waves.
Part 2 : Mid/Late-game and Teamfighting
At this part of the game, you want to be helping your teammates push lanes, secure objectives, and help in teamfights. But you do not want to abandon your lane forever : When there is no action between the two teams, you want to be in your lane farming and pushing.
When it comes to teamfights, you need to always be in the frontline, your 1 gives you a lot of healing and you're pretty much invincible if you play your cards right. You also want to stun as many enemy gods as possible using your ultimate, but before you do that you should make sure that their escapes are on cooldown. Your default combo should be : Red stance > Dash into the enemies > Activate the Mirror > Ult. This will disorient your enemies, making them target you with all their Crowd Control that you can evade with your ultimate, granting your team a safe engagement. It will also stun / slow the enemy gods allowing your team to shred them down. Activating your mirror before the ult also gives you more damage that the enemy team will not expect.
When you're being chased by an enemy, keep spamming your 1 whenever you can as it will heal you for ridiculous amounts lategame, also remember to dash whenever possible.
Don't be afraid of getting focused by the enemy team in a teamfight, this will give your allies an opportunity to close in and get some kills, healing you in the process if you have Mail Of Renewal.
The build is completely situational. You will not build the same thing every game, therefore you have to adjust your playstyle to the items you buy, and to the enemy team's comp.
