Introduction

How is going on viewers of SMITEFire? Stuke here with another guide, in this newest installment of my Warrior Series we will be about the King of Lanka, The Ten-Headed Twenty-Armed Demon, Ravana.
Note: you don't have to follow this guide to the smallest detail, these are suggestions on how to play Ravana. I encourage you to look at the comment section below and see other suggestions.

Who is Ravana?

Ravana is a Physical, Melee, Assassin that is like a mix of Osiris' AA-based combat with Chang'e's kit. He relies on his basic attacks and his abilities like Prana Onslaught to build stacks on Chain of Blows to give a shield to stay in the fight longer.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • High Single Target Damage
  • High Sustain
  • Combo Focus

Cons
  • Squishy
  • Poor Early Game
  • CC Lockdowned easily

Skills

A lovely little passive that when you get 8 successful basic attacks or ability hits on an enemy or minion, you gain a shield off a percentage of his health that can stack for a limited amount of times.
A simple cone attack that slows. Level this first for the damage and the slow scaling.
This is similar in function to Chang'e’s Moonlit Waltz but with more of an offensive twist to it as you launch a ball that damages anyone hit with it.
This is what puts Ravana in the solo lane. A straight forward attack that passes through minions and when it hits an enemy god it roots them, but with the added effect of it giving your health for the number of minions and gods you hit with this ability.
You also gain a damage mitigation buff to the enemy closes to the center of your ultimate. It uses mainly as an engagement tool but could be used as much as an escape as well.

Items to Consider

Ravana has a heavy reliance on his ability to get face to face with an enemy and unleash a brutal onslaught of blows from his basic attacks and abilities. With this playstyle in mind, it would be best for Ravan players to get items that can boost both his in-hand attacks as well as his ability. Throw in a defense item just to keep yourself from dying as Ravana needs to be up-close to deal with his enemies.

Ravana was to hit hard and fast, in-hand and abilities, plus the addition of dealing extra damage with landing an ability makes this a great addition to your build.
Wanting to get into the middle of a fight, Ravana can use the passive effect of getting more protection the more enemies are around you.

Tips Tricks & Combos

  • Put Up Your Dukes
Go into the jungle camp or minion wave and build up your shield before you engage in a fight.
  • Catch These Hands, Boy
Use the slow from Prana Onslaught whenever possible so you can try to kill or to getaway.
  • Box 'em
Ravana is a better 1v1 boxing god that can take out a single target at a time, so his presence in a team fight is very small and can get picked off if he's focused. Try to utilize team fights as well as teammates' positioning to keep Ravana's pressure going.
    Combo 1
This is a standard combo for most Ravana players. Lock them down, hit them hard. If needed, use Overhead Kick to dodge any incoming damage or CC
    Ultimate Combo
Dive in, lock them down, and unload large amounts of damage from your in-hands and abilities. You can switch up the order as Ravana's combos are very loose and easy to use.

Phases of the Game

Early Game
The early phase of the game is the most dangerous to Ravana as his abilities are not strong enough and his lack in defense early on can get him killed easily. So, try to farm up as much as you can, or you will be out-pushed and will die almost every time.
Middle Game
This is when things start to change for Ravana. After you get your three core items online you will finally be able to hold your own in a fight and may even get a kill in the process.
Late Game
Jump into every team fight, figurative and literally, and attempt to claim kills while you're at it. Ravana falls off a bit at this point for he won't provide the damage output as he would before because you'll need defensive items to stay afloat in fights. Not early game bad, but just not enough for the late game.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Ravana is a very in-your-face type of god that likes to fight mono to mono and deal a considerable amount of damage while being hard to kill with his jukes and sustain. Attacks like Osiris and having the abilities like that of Chang’e makes him a deadly foe and a true opponent to go against. So, keep on fighting and show them that no God nor Demon can out-match the King of Lanka.

@Stuke:

Will this guide still apply now that he got a complete makeover?
Can/Will you still play him in solo?

Kriega1 (143) | July 14, 2018 3:24am
Ravana is almost never played in solo. But, this build can still be relevant if it caters exclusively towards his jungle role.

This guide will be archived when the patch goes live since Ravana will no longer be a warrior anymore. All other guides making reference to Ravana being a warrior will also be changed to fit this new classification.

Okay,so why do you buy stacking as 4th item,Stuke?

boogiebass (46) | June 25, 2018 4:29pm
Hide of the urchin recently got buffed. You only need 7 stacks instead of 10 to fully evolve it. The second half of conquest is when you start to group up for team fights, generally. So its ok to build it 4th. You can still get your stacks if both teams are fighting on equal footing.

Also, the first three items are needed to help him against his lane opponent/enemy jg.

This seems to be an extremely elaborate guide, but I'm really unsure of how to play Ravana. I generally play Chaac and Guan very tanky, with something like Hide of the Urchin, Spirit robe, and Shield of over full damage.

Is Ravana not a god you can balance defense and offense with?? This build seems really squishy, and teams I get stuck on 90% of the time don't pay attention in team fights, and I don't want to rely on the likes of them.

Any suggestions??? Is Ravana an "adc warrior"?

Like I said in the comment above, I'm still working out this guide for Season 3 and need to come up with some new set ups on how to play him because of the item changes.

Well, with the upcoming patch notes I'm going to need to do a huge update for this guide as Ravana is now going to be usable and I'll need to get use to the new Ravana.

Think of him like Osiris except roots and ult made for 1v1. I have OWNED with him so many times. He is not bursty but really does have high sustain. Plus its a root. I dont know why people hate him so much. He can really be used and can go head to head with Osiris if he wanted to.

Ravana is a special kind of warrior that takes more skill and concentration to play then some of the others in the game. He does have ***** damage in the early game, but if you don't play so aggressive and build up your core items, then you'll be able to dominate in the other stages of the game. Yes he might not be a strong as some of the other warriors, but you need to focus on using jukes and fast attack speed to kill your opponent instead of relying on pure damage. It takes time and patience to play him correctly so you can become a force to be feared in the heart of your opponents.
