Loki disappears in a puff of smoke. While invisible, he moves faster, removes Slow effects, and gains immunity to Slow effects. His next Basic Attack from stealth (or for 2s after) applies a bleed to his target, dealing damage every .5s and reveals Loki. If Loki takes damage while in stealth he will be revealed for .33s.

Introduction

Me
Hi, I'm Pentargonite, and thanks for checking out my Loki guide! I've been playing Smite for almost a year now and I started playing him in the jungle. Then I tried him in Arena and Solo, and found out that he's very fun, and (surprisingly) complicated! I also play league, and I am currently in Gold 2 conquest.

Loki
Loki, The Trickster God! He is a physical carry assassin, and has one of the highest, if not the highest burst in the game. He has one of the coolest skills of the game: Vanish. I mean, who doesn't want to be invisible... Easy to play but hard to master, only a few can play him to the fullest. I hope to bring you closer to that goal with this guide!

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extreme lategame
A lot of damage, even early game
Most burst in the game
Invisibility

Cons

One reliable escape, his ultimate
Countered by bruisers
Very squishy
Easily focused down

Items

Arena and Conquest

Early Game

A standard item. You'll need some movement speed for chasing, it gives you some early physical power and some very useful penetration.

A great item for Loki, you won't run out of mana that often anymore, you gain more physical power, and you get some CDR, which is very useful for 2 reasons: Your ultimate is available more often so you can use it for escapes or kills and Vanish will be off CD quicker, making you a lot safer.

In the solo lane, Loki benefits the most from this item. He can just sit in lane, get some kills and stack it up. Once stacked up, you can easily kill mages in solo or mid lane.

Mid Game

This is the perfect item for Loki. It gives you some much 'poke' (taking 70% of the enemy health with Vanish and Aimed Strike) because it's passive gets activated by Vanish or Aimed Strike. It also maxes your CDR and gives you a welcomed power boost.
This item gives you something to add to the DoT of Vanish. 20% crit chance isn't a lot, but that's why we get the next item...

Late Game

This item gives you some extra 20% crit, making the passive of Malice apply more often. And, when you do crit, you get even more damage on that crit! I don't recommend getting only this without Malice or Rage since 20% isn't very high.
This far into the game most gods have gotten some protection. Get this, and deal some massive damage to the ones who didn't buy protections (and also to the ones who did)!

Situational Items

One of the best defensive items in the game. Especially if there are 3 magical and 2 physicals on the enemy team, since the support barely does any damage. Only pick this up if you really need to though.

A very good, and straightforward item. It even gives you 40 (!) physical power, which is a lot for a 'defensive' item.

Magi's Blessing
An Ares on the enemy team who keeps blinking in and ulting? An annoying Athena who keeps using Confound? Buy this if you're up against a heavy CC team, or an annoying support. It makes it a lot easier for you to escape dangerous situations.

Why it's generally not a good idea to build defensive items

Actives

You might want to get this if you seem to get stuck in dangerous positions a lot. Or if there is an Odin.
This active synergises greatly with Loki. If you're going for the kill: Vanish, Girdle of Inner Power,Aimed Strike and you got a kill.
A life saver. With 40% CDR, the CD on Vansish is 9 seconds. If you can stall your death untill then, you might get away.
One of the best actives in the game, it can save your life, but also give you kills, since you get 5 second CDR when you activate it at rank 3.
You are a pretty good GF and FG stealer, with Vanish and Assassinate. If you think you might be able to steal some, get this.
If you just need that extra time to finish that annoying enemy Loki, get this. When you use your kill combo and use Fist of the Gods immediately after, it's almost a guaranteed kill.

Skills

Behind You!

A great passive! Always try to attack from behind (obviously) for that extra damage. It's also very useful because enemies usually run away from you with their backs towards you!

Vanish

The invisibility skill. It gives you good damage and basically your only escape. If you're escaping, go to places the enemy doesn't expect you to go. Run towards them and back in their jungle etc. Blink does not break Vanish. You can also back with Vanish being active, you'll turn visible when you've got about 2 seconds left. Wards do see you, but only as a red dot on the map. People can hear you turn invisible! That's why enemies might be prepared

Decoy
Decoy
Your main clearing ability. Place it in front of the archers (with them in the circle so they take damage), and it will taunt the melee minions, causing it to damage/clear the whole wave. You can use this to block autoattacks from gods who are chasing you or bodyblock them. This skill is also great for zoning out people. When you place it under tower, it will take tower damage for it's duration. Good for dives and escapes.

Aimed Strike

Aimed Strike Your main burst skill. Not much to explain here other than to note that it also applies a 3 second 25% slow. This also makes noise so make sure to cast it right in front of the enemy or at a distance that he can't hear it.

There is a very good trick with this skill. When fully leveled and with full CDR, this ability has a 4,8 seconds CD. When you go in and use it early, the cooldown timer will start but the buff lifetime will last for 5 seconds. So when you use it early and then attack it will come off cooldown shortly after.

Assassinate

Your ultimate! You can use this to escape, kill or finish of enemies. One thing to note is that you shouldn't be afraid to use this as an escape. It's better when you don't die and get no kills than when you die and get one kill. If you use Vanish, Aimed Strike, use Assassinate and use 1 basic attack, it will apply the effects of Vanish and Aimed Strike. Also note that it applies a stun, making you able to save a teammate if possible.

Skill Leveling Order

Skilling Priority Solo Lane

Aimed Strike Aimed Strike Aimed Strike Aimed Strike Aimed Strike
2 3 1 2 4 2 2 3 4 2 3 3 4 3 1 1 4 1 1 4

You level your ultimate Assassinate first, obviously. It gives about double the damage of Aimed Strike. Some people level this ability last, because the stun is the biggest part of it, but I like to level it first.

After that you level Decoy. You need the clearing power, or you'll lose a lot of gold to minions walking into your tower.

Then you level Aimed Strike. It's your main damage and has a lot of burst. Once you level this skill, you can kill a lot more people.

You level Vanish last. Yes, it does most damage, but it's countered by healing and just hasn't got the burst Aimed Strike has.

Skilling Priority Arena

Aimed Strike Aimed Strike Aimed Strike Aimed Strike Aimed Strike
1 2 3 3 4 3 3 1 4 3 1 1 4 1 2 2 4 2 2 4

Once again, you level Assassinate first. This is besically for the same reasons as stated above, since nothing relly changes.

After that you level Aimed Strike, you don't need the waveclear from Decoy since most of the time, a mage will do that in Arena.

Then you level Vanish, again basically because of the same reasons stated above. Here healing will counter it even more, since almost every Arena team has a healer.

You level Decoy last, since you don't need it at all. If you're very good you could use it to block skills, but most of the time that won't have any effect.

Playstyle/Combo's

Early Game
Decoy
0-15 minutes
Farm up, clear the wave and get stacks on Heartseeker. If the oppertunity arrives, kill the enemy laner. Especially mages are easy to kill. You need to be very careful with bruisers. Playing against mages has a good and bad side (for some mages). Most mages can outpush you, making you lose a lot of farm. I advise you try to use decoy twice on 1 wave. When the wave is incoming and when the wave is just about to hit the tower. Only do this with mages that outpush you, since it costs a lot of mana. When you have your mana buff that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Aimed Strike

Mid Game
Decoy
15-30/40 minutes
This is the time where people usually hang around midlane. The enemy solo laner might be still pushing your lane. Roam around, and gank solo lane so your tower doesn't go down. Don't be afraid to engage an enemy, they will usually retreat when half of their health is down when you use Vanish and Aimed Strike. Since you'll also be with other people in mid lane, you can use your Assassinate's stun to set up other ultimates like Searing Pain.

Aimed Strike

Late Game
Decoy
30/40+ minutes
This is the time you really shine. If you see a squishy on his own, use your kill combo and he's dead. You should be roaming (but be there for teamfights!) and try to catch splitpushers. Just don't get CC'd and you'll be fine. Because of your mobility and burst, you can punish any splitpushers pushing your towers. You are also a good splitpusher. If there are any (very) low towers, use your Decoy to get tower aggro (so that the tower will attack the Decoy) and destroy the tower. Be careful for anyone in the jungle near you.

Aimed Strike

Teamfighting/Arena
Decoy
Like all assassins, you're not very strong here. Wait for you team to engage, and pick off the ones retreating. Since Aimed Strike is on such a low cooldown, this should be fairly easy. Focus on the squishies. Don't be afraid to disengage if you think you'll not be safe. Some people say you should get behind the enemy. I advise against this, since you'll die instantly or you'll be forced to ult out. Pay attention to where the enemy is retreating so you can try and flank them.

But yah, you mentioned to use decoy twice on a wave, which you should never do nor need to. Basic attacks or let your minions finish off instead of wasting mana and time.

Eeeeh, not in early game, when you have your decoy up a few levels you shouldn't need to do it. But when you just started and have mana buff, it shouldn't be a problem.

Shouldn't review guides at 22:30.

Anyhow there should be 2 skill combos with identical skill rotation - one where you ult immediately, and one where you auto attack with Vnaish and AS and then ult.
