Hello I was wondering if anyone could offer me any tips to improve my playing in Smite. The only other Moba game I've played was League of Legends and I have been playing that for over a year and Smite for a few months. Needless to say I'm really bad at both and it seems each time I play smite I always bring the team down since I always have bad scores and end up feeding even though I have no intention too. Currently I am level 20 in Smite but it seems like the only time I ever win is when my team carries me and to me that doesn't really feel like a win when I'm hindering my teams performance because I am not doing very good.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

If anyone wants to add me to give me any tips my in game name is StereopwnZ

Stop being hyper aggressive.
Stop trying to kill them.
Wait for them to come at you and wait for your time to be able to punish them for being aggressive. Learn your god, learn the other gods and learn the map as well as map awareness. Learn what all the buffs do, where they are and how long they take to re spawn.

I would be more than willing to do some 1v1 jousts with you if you like and we can see how your playstyle is if you like.

Noob here, and I made myself a checklist of sorts to improve my skills. My last game I ended 7/1/2 with Ao Kuang soloing mid, so I'd like to believe my method is helping at least a little :)

1) Stop feeding. My first games I'd end up with like 7/8 deaths. That's not right and you're giving away XP and gold and hindering your own progression. If you're soloing mid for example, you're basically done for. My solution? Chill the F out and don't rush to die. As soon as you realize you might lose the fight, try to escape. Don't run like crazy in a straight line because you end up open for long range ults like Ra's or Ao's.

2) Don't push until you're ready. This is probably #1 mistake we noobs do. We get excited killing creeps and start pushing the lane feeling like we're winning just to get ambushed and / or surprise butt-sexed. Or killed by a tower because we didn't realize we were lvl 3 and we still take heavy damage from them. So farm, and harrass the oposing god as much as possible. If you see an opening try to shut them down and then push a little just so he has to work when he respawns. Once you have all your skills available you can start thinking about pushing harder.

3) Rely on your towers. If you find yourself having problems laning, either because the opposing god is outplaying you (happens, don't get mad and remember rule #1 :)), then fall back to your towers and make them work for you. Take advantage of forcing the opposing god to keep his distance and take a breather. If possible, ask your jungler / teammate for a little help, you'll probably be able to take the other god down and take some heat away from you. Ask for help early, as soon as you notice yourself in trouble, not when your fenix is being attacked.

Please note this is my own experience, don't take it too seriously ;)

that is basically, well, the basics of MOBAs.
The only thing I dont agree with is 2. In Smite the way it plays out you want to push and you want to push fast. If you can out push your lane get someone who can to come gank your lane and push. Smite is fast paced and is pretty much decided in the first few kills.

Well, as I said in my presentation post in the other thread, SMITE is my first MOBA, so this is all new to me :D. Regarding #2, fair enough, it's just that I've seen many players rushing forward just to get ganked shamefully. But I do get what you mean :)

Yeah people dont watch the mini map, and if they know there is a roaming God from the start they dont buy wards. They deserve to be ganked in that case lol.

One thing noone has mentioned which I messed up is play all the classes. Pick one God from each of the roles (AP ranged, Tank, Melee etc.) and just play them like you play your women. I stuffed up hard because now I can only play AP ranged characters and hopeless with everyone else. Spend your pre-6 levels learning all the roles and knowing how to play at least one of them. If you know one, then you'll get somewhat of a basic idea of how the other ones work.
