Hello! My name is Domiel87 and welcome to my first SmiteFire build! I'll ask you to forgive the lack of BB Coding and overall nice look that I've seen in a lot of highly experienced guides, but I'm not the best at putting all of that together.
In this guide, I'll attempt to put forth the build I have for Xing Tian, Smite's newest guardian. Any comments and additions or changes I can make are welcome!
Keep in mind that this guide is based on what I have utilized in Arena, Joust and Siege and is not necessarily recommended for Conquest.
PROS
The leveling sequence I use is listed above, but I'll go into a bit of detail here about Xing Tian's abilities.
FURIOUS ROAR
This is the ability I max out first, less for the damage, which is nice, of course, but because it works best on minions to utilize your passive in gaining stacks for your passive. Simply put, the more targets you hit, the more health is returned from your passive, and this ability can hit a large number of targets. As if this wasn't good enough, it also reduces enemy basic attack damage and has a DOT effect.
HOOK SLAM
Hook Slam is my second maxed ability. It's a combination uppercut/slam with root damage. You should note that even if you do not hit an enemy with the first part of the attack and knock them into the air, you can still hit them with the slam and root. While it does do a decent amount of damage, I use it as more of a utility to lock down a target, making it easier for my team to kill them. At max rank, it has a 2 second stun, meaning death in teamfights to most squishy gods.
SKY-CUTTING AXE
This is your initiate/escape move that also gives you protections. Keep in mind that your second jump is a bit shorter than the first. You can use it to dive into a fight and dive out, chase, or run down that Loki who just burned your ADC and combo it with your ult. Think of it almost like a relatively free short-range Blink.
WHIRLWHIND OF RAGE AND STEEL
This is it, the thing that makes Xiag Tian a scary guy. Looking past the damage it deals, this ultimate allows you to throw an entire enemy team in the direction you are facing. Problems with a Hades/Khepri tank combo? Throw them into your tower. Squishy getting chased down? Throw the attacker in the opposite direction. A little bit of time using it will help you get down the aim.
I've seen some interesting guides for Xing Tian so far, one of which included Frostbound Hammer, which he can't even build. So, I'll be going with what works for me here.
My standard build is listed above, so this is the breakdown for the basic set of items I use.
Shoes of the Magi
Decent power, a bit of penetration, mana and movement speed. Xing Tian is a mana-hungry god, and while you can't outright buy Shoes of the Magi like you can Shoes of Focus, I find it worth the wait for the little bit extra 'oomph' you can get from these.
Sovereignty/Heartward Amulet
Most players I know recommend building Sovereignty and Heartward Amulet on every Guardian class, then build outwards from there. The merits are for your team, with the increased protections both items give in their passive aura, while you benefit from increased MP5 and HP5. I've always felt this was a little limiting, but in Xing Tian's case, I tend to build Sovereignty early for the HP5 sustain. If you feel you need the mana more, you can go Heartward Amulet first, or if the enemy team has more magic-based damage than physical.
Spirit Robe
Xing Tian has a lot of escape potential, so I find myself often the target of hard CC. Spirit Robe mitigates some of the damage you'll take when CC'd and offers either some physical or magical protection to go along with it. I find it syncs well with covering my bases on defensive items, especially if you don't build Sovereignty and Heartward Amulet back to back. This item also gives you your initial 15% cooldown, which is necessary on Xing Tian to mitigate his cooldown times.
Chronos' Pendant
As Xing Tian's abilities scale with magic power, I like to build Chronos' Pendant at this point. It's CDR maxes out your cooldown, you get a decent boost of magic power and the 25 MP5 means you don't have to worry as much about running low on mana.
Sovereignty/Heartward Amulet
At this point, whichever of the two I don't yet have, I tend to build.
Gem of Isolation
I throw Gem of Isolation in for a bit more damage, as well as the increased health and mana pool. However, the slow is what I really enjoy, especially when combined with using Xing Tian's ult to throw an enemy team towards your team. It just seems to go well with his kit, and as he's ability-based, you'll be slowing a lot of enemies.
Viable Final Items
I really don't have a 'specific' last item for Xing Tian yet; I find it better to optimize based off of what the enemy team composition is, or how play is going. However, there are some items I've seen or used that come up a lot.
Rod of Tahuti
Not something I use, but it packs a lot of extra damage. I would build this if the enemy team does not have an actual Guardian and is instead relying on a Warrior tank.
Mystical Mail
Great for physical defense, but the constant AOE damage is what I build it for, especially if you spend a lot of time in the middle of the enemy team.
Midgardian Mail
Another good physical protection item, its passive combines well with the slows from Gem of Isolation.
Pestilence
If the enemy team is magic-heavy, I use this. Also helps to shut down their heals and such.
Hopefully you've enjoyed reading this, and it helps you with Xing Tian. I'm planning on making some item edits later on when I have more time!
