Introduction

So this is a guide for the god Xbalanque. He is probably one of my favorite gods in the game and love playing him. I hope this guide can help you understand him a little more and if there is anything you think I can change or fix, please leave a comment and I will try my best.

Why him?

Xbalanque is a hunter who grants his team his power mostly in the late game phase. His power mostly comes from his basic attacks and has a great team fight presence. He also has a good early game phase because he can easily clear the minions without have to get close or expending all of his abilities.

Xbalanque is an under-rated that does not get the respect that he deserves. Some people say that his early game is bad and that you don't really do anything in the lane. I disagree with that and say that him in the lane is a very powerful thing. He does a great amount of damage and will almost always be a great choice.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
-High basic attack damage
-Great in team fights
-Can stick on enemies
-Good initiator

Cons:
-Trapped easily
-Can be squishy
-Weak-ish early game

Items

Starting Items

Bluestone Pendant: This item will give you the mana you need so you can stay in your lane and use your Branching Bolas as much as possible. It will also give you some power and health to help you even more.

Morningstar: This item is going to give you a bit of power at the beggining of the game but is mostly there so you can get right into Transcendence, which is the first item you will want.

Healing Potion: This will make sure that you can stay in the lane longer and because you have Bluestone Pendant, you don't really need a Mana Potion.

Core Items

Transcendence: This is going to be the first item you want to get. This item will give you lots of mana in which you can use to keep your Branching Bolas almost always active and will also give you a good amount of physical power, 35 from the item, and about 30 from the mana only the item gives you when fully stacked, making Transcendence give you 65 physical power alone.

Devourer's Gauntlet: This item is going to be the second or the third item you want. This item will give you a good amount of lifesteal when stacked up and will also give you a good amount of power. It is your choice if you want to get Ninja Tabi or Devourer's Gauntlet first.

Ninja Tabi: These are your boots. This is the item you are going to want to get either second or third. They will give you movement speed and a some power, and a good amount of attack speed that will increase your DPS. You can decide whether or not you want to get these or Devourer's Gauntlet first.

Finisher Items

The Executioner: This item is really good and will give you damage, penetration, and attack speed, all things that will help Xbalanque. This is a good damage item you can get if you know your not going to be taking a whole lot of damage or you know you can shred through the tanks with it.

Odysseus' Bow: This is a good item to get if you want more attack speed. This item will significantly increase your attack speed, making you able to hit your targets more often. This will also apply a lighting proc every fourth basic attack and can be used to clear minions.

Malice: This is actually a really good item to get because it allows you to do crits. This item also gives you a great amount of physical power and will make it where whenever you crit, your next basic attacks deal an additional 75% of your physical power for 3s, making it almost do double the damage. This is a really good item to get in almost any situation, but it is always your choice.

Deathbringer: This is a good crit item that will give you good power, the ability to crit, and will also make your crits deal 50% more damage. This is a really good item, but Malice is still better and would recommend getting Malice before Deathbringer.

Brawler's Beat Stick: This is a really good item to get. It gives you a good amount of power, a great amount of penetration, and is a really good item against healers. I would recommend getting this item, especially if there is a healer on the opposing team like Hel, Ra or Chang'e.

Good Actives

Greater Sprint: This active is good to get because it is a great means of escape. Since Xbalanque has only one ability that he can use to get away(other than his ult), Greater Sprint would be a great way of outrunning your enemies.

Greater Aegis: This is a good item to get when fighting a team with gods that have burst abilities. Some examples are Poseiden, Scylla, Anubis, or Agni.

Greater Purification: This is a good item to get in almost every game. I would recommend getting this active first and using it when escaping the most detrimental CC effects.

Weakening Curse: This is actually a really good item to get on Xbalanque. When using Weakening Curse, you are going to be slowing your targets and making them not be able to heal at all. This will make you able to catch targets that are getting away, or making sure that your team can collapse on the enemies.

Achilles' Spear: This is a good active to get because it will give you attack speed, movement speed, and a lot of lifesteal. This item will make you able to take down a target really fast without having to draw out the battle too long. Remember that you do take more damage while it is active so just be careful.

Abilities

This is a really good ability if you can build up the stack early. Your goal is to try to build those stacks ASAP. A good thing to do is to communicate with your support and make sure that you are the one to get the kills. Remember, getting the extra 30 power from your passive is another 30 damage your going to be dealing with your basic attacks.

This is the ability you want to max out first. This ability will increase your basic attack damage by 50. This along with your passive makes you deal 80 more basic attack damage, just from his abilities. This ability also costs mana every time you use a basic attack, which is why having a lot of mana is important. This is also the ability you are going to be using to clear minion waves. Note: Basic attacks will split into two if you hit a tower, so if your enemy is hiding behind a tower, you can still hit them.

This ability Does a good amount of damage and is really hard to miss because it has such a long reach. It is a really good ability to poke your enemies with in the lane. your can usually use your darts, damage the opponents, thus gaining the upper hand. You can also hit an enemy with more than 1 dart, so sometimes getting close then spraying darts is a good idea. Note: This ability will slow enemies you hit so you can hit them with your darts to try to get away.

Something important to know is that you can not go through walls with the jump, so you can't go through the jungle walls or an Ymir wall. Note: When Xbalanque is in the air, he is CC immune. This is a great way of getting out of many things, like an Ares ult. This also means that you cannot be grabbed by Awilix's ult.

This is a great ability to start a team fight. you pop it, your enemies can't see anything, and your team uses everything to blow them up. This is also a great way of getting a teammate out of trouble, or to help them get the kill, so always be looking on the map for such things. Note: There is a basic attack range increase and it is pretty significant so you can use your ult to hit enemies that are camping in their tower or that are running away.

Skill combos

A good combo is Poison Darts into Rising Jaguar. This will make sure that the darts from Rising Jaguar will deal maximum damage and will also make you almost right on top of them, making it easy to land you basic attacks.

You can also Go from Darkest of Nights into Poison Darts into Rising Jaguar. This will make your enemies completely blind to where you are, they having them take damage without them knowing where it's coming from or where to retreat.

Stages of the game

Early Game

Early game, Xbalanque can sustain his lane very well. It is good if you get your Branching Bola, Get the purple buff, and go into lane. The best way of clearing is to throw your bolas at the front minions and let the split do damage to the rest. It isn't very fast, but it is very effective. With Xbalanque, you can also be aggressive, using your Poison Darts to poke your enemies, using the Rising Jaguar to deal a little extra damage, and also making your bolas split from the minions into the gods. Just remember, it is probably a good idea to save your Rising Jaguar as an escape mechanism.

Mid Game

Mid game is when Xbalanque starts to be dealing lots of damage with his basic attacks. In this stage, you most likely have your Branching Bola maxed out and can keep it active almost all the time with Transcendence. you also have your ult and team fights start to happen. Your ult is a great way to start a team fight or help your team get away or get the kill, so remember to keep an eye on the map.

Late Game

Late game, Xbalanque is a very powerful ally. At this point, you are starting you hit like a truck. By that i mean hitting REALLY hard with your basic attacks. All you really need to do is be the one to start the team fights and use your basic attacks to tear through your enemies. At this point of the game, you are also going to be the one that is dealing the most damage(most likely) and will be carrying the team.

Team Fights

In team fights, Xbalanque is a very valuable god. When getting in team fights, it is best to start it with Darkest of Nights. When this is used, your team will(hopefully) Start to attack because the enemies can't see anything, rendering them almost harmless. After the darkness goes away, your team should have the upper hand. At this point, you should just stay near the pack and throw your basic attacks, using your various darts to hurt the enemies. You are still a hunter so remember that you can't just tank a bunch of damage because you think you can kill them faster than they can kill you.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Xbalanque is a very powerful god that hits like a truck late game.

I hope you guys like this guide and if there is anything you think needs to change or doesn't work, leave a comment. I'm always happy to learn how to play better and how to make better guides.

Now I don't exactly agree on the build for similar reasons to Metabreaker. I'll be giving a downvote for the time being, which will switch over once the guide becomes more "Modern"

Thanks for the advice. I for some reason still buy Qin's sais and for some reason forgot about Achilles spear. Also thanks for the database coding info, it helps a lot.

After Qin's sais nerf to dmg you never build it anymore. Also no Heartseeker, and warrior Tabi should be ninja Tabi as it adds far more DPS to a hunters kit. Also, why isn't achilles spear on the active list? Spear and beads looks really good this season. I'm in the process of making an xbal guide since I'm in masters and I main xbal ADC, so I won't reveal too much;) too add database coding, do name of God or ability or item or active this codes for a link to the database source. It's good for skill descriptions. Also https://www.smitefire.com/smite/guide/code-blue-bbcoding-for-beginners-4537 is really good for bbcoding in general.

Even if you don't agree in the build, downvote for no teamfight section, and missing relevant bbcoding

Qin sais don't really help Hunters anymore because of how much it cost.
