Introduction

This is my first build so please bear with me... I tend to play guardian most of the time but recently found a strong affinity to the Norse assassin, Thor. I really like his ability set. This build focuses on physical power, attack speed and movement speed.

Items

Start out with Fatalis and Boots. This will give you 20% Attack Speed and 13% Movement Speed. I like building Hastened Fatalis as soon as possible to enable chasing down low health enemies with its passive, the movement speed debuff from basic attacks. Get a Healing Potion or mana potion with the remaining 50 gold, to help with a little Health Regeneration or mana regeneration in a pinch.

1. When available finish Hastened Fatalis. The passive allows for a movement speed debuff from basic attacks to be removed.

2. Next, complete the Warrior Tabi boots.

These two items will now give you 30% Attack Speed and 28% Movement Speed and +40 Physical Power.

3. Build the Jotunn's Wrath, which will give you +40 Physical Power, +150 Mana, +20 Physical Penetration.

4. It's time to crit... build Deathbringer. This will give you +50 Physical Power and 20% Critical Chance. The passive gives a boost of 40% Critical Damage.

5. You'll finish the movement speed boost to further stay on enemies with Heartseeker. This will give you +25 Physicall Power and a further 10% Movement Speed. The Passive further helps a great deal in chasing down and finishing enemies as the basic attacks increases your Attack Speed by 3% per stack, up to 5 stacks. Your next ability will then deal an additional +40 Physical Power.

6. Runeforged Hammer is next, giving you +30 Physical Power and +200 Health. This item's passive let's your abilities deal an additional 15% Physical Power as Magical Power. It gets better when an enemy is rooted or criplled, when it deals 30% Physical Power as Magical Power.

At the end of this your items will then result in the following base items boosts:
38% Movement Speed
+185 Physical Power
30% Attack Speed
+20 Physical Penetration
20% Critical Chance
+200 Health
+150 Mana

I like how the passives work together. Hastened Fatalis makes you stay on a retreating enemy while attacking. Meanwhile Heartseeker stacks up your Attack Speed and lets your next ability when the stacks max out at 5 stacks deal additional damage. The heightened attack speed helps to get your crits coming faster as well with Deathbringer's passive that boosts crit damage by 40%. Heartseeker further helps along Runeforged Hammer which' passive let's abilities deal additional damage to enemies.

In terms of Relics I like to go with one of these, depending on who the enemies are: Sanctuary, Sprint or Purification. It's purely from a preference standpoint and I'd advise you to go with what works for you.

Skills

I won't prescribe much here but I do advise that you level up Berserker Barrage as quick as possible. This will be the ability that will give you the most benefit from your items' passives.

Pros / Cons

PROS
Great for rushing down enemiesgreat for rushing down enemies
High Movement Speed
High Attack Speed
High Physical Power
Decent Critical Damage/Chance

CONS
Low Health from items
No Protections from items
The low level of maximum health and lack of protections leaves you vulnerable
No CC reduction items further causes vulnerability.

Summary

This is a build for typical assassin play... an in-and-out approach. Dive in, deal large amounts of damage or get a kill and get out. You will however be vulnerable as there are no protections from items in this build. It's not a balanced build, trading off protections/health for damage.

I'm open for advice and opinions on improving this build. Let me know what works and doesn't work for you.

Sorry for any toxic comments. My suggestion, just ignore them.

I'm in agreement with Daelinn. This is definitely a different take on Thor, and although most people prefer to build him for abilities (which is his strong point), it's not to say a different build centered more on basic attacks can't be effective in some circumstances.

As Daelinn said, the biggest issue in this build is Runeforged Hammer, as it really doesn't fit anywhere and is a pretty weak item overall, especially for the price. So my upcoming comments are going to automatically consider that it isn't part of the equation.

All but Jotunn's Wrath are centered on doing more basic attack damage. You've got some nice synergy there between Hastened Fatalis and Heartseeker. It's understood that you lose out on some power with Fatalis, but if you can make your basic attacks hurt as much as possible, it can be an interesting utility exchange.

Building only one crit item is another issue. To this end, as Daelinn was wondering, Deathbringer by itself doesn't allow for reliable crits. 20% is low, which is why crit builds employ a minimum of 2 crit items. Problem in arena is that these are EXPENSIVE. If you go Malice + Deathbringer, you're likely not completing your build before the match ends.

Here's your solution: Qin's Sais. In http://eliteownage.com/smitebuilder.html, I used Spirit Robe as the 6th item, and compared damage between Qin's Sais and Deathbringer. With only 10 less power, your abilities with Qin's do almost identical damage to squishies, bruisers, and full tanks as they would using DB. However, you get a big boost in DPS across all 3 build types.

Now, you're missing penetration except for the miniscule flat pen you get from Jotunn's Wrath. You could do even more DPS if you subbed Titan's Bane in for Jotunn's Wrath. Or, if you wanted to focus only on squishies, use Brawler's Beat Stick, and that'll give you the highest DPS against them in this build. But I get where you want at least some CDR. Just understand, when you get an ability-supporting item like Jotunn's, it lessens the damage you could do from basic attacks. Hybrids like this (some ability, some basic attack) can still be functional, but it's essentially "jack of all trades, master of none."

SO, with this build, you get some interesting synergies and a specific type of gameplay style.

Warrior Tabi, Hastened Fatalis, Jotunn's Wrath, Heartseeker, Qin's Sais, Spirit Robe
  1. Extremely high move speed
  2. No move speed debuff from basic attacks via Fatalis
  3. 20% CDR
  4. Great attack speed via 3 items
  5. Less squishy from 40 magical/physical protections
  6. 15% damage mitigation when you get hit by hard CC

And your gameplay style will be more of a get-in, get-out as you stated...you're not building a tanky Thor so you can't really stay in the fight too long, but since you're basing damage on basic attacks, you also have no true burst. Your optimal target type is going to be in a somewhat narrow range...squishy gods that are already partially hurt, where you can ult and hit them behind the lines, then use your mobility to secure the kill and get back to safety. Or, if any other god is already at 1/2 health, you might be able to 1v1 them or attack them in a teamfight situation as long as you don't get too focused.

Definitely niche, but I won't say it doesn't have its own potential.

Uhm, Sorry, But if your gonna act that toxic, he might not want to take your review from it, i know i wouldn't.

this "Review" does not hold any meaning, as you delivered it in a toxic way, said his build is bad with no reasons to it, and no alternative suggestion, plus, you didn't include the auto attacks in the combo, it should be Tectonic Rift, hammer, aa, teleport, aa, Berserker Barrage, aa

i must say, you sound pretty immature, although i am certain you are not a 12 year old boy, you might want to take a look at your behaviour.

Alright I will be honest here; having played Thor quite a bit (with mastery X I know more or less what he's about) when I saw this build on paper I thought that it looks terrible at the first glance, but I eventually understood the concept behind it. That being said, it is not ideal in my opinion, and I'll try to present my point of view in this matter.

First of all, about Hastened Fatalis; normally Thor isn't expected to build attack speed, because of his good base damage and decent scaling on his abilities- yet he's more or less a burst assassin without much sustained damage- and that problem may be solved by buying Fatalis- I have done it myself a few times in 3v3 Joust when our team lacked ADC of any kind, and when the opponents got enough defence online that it was possible for them to live through our burst, this toy has proven very helpful- I agree on this choice in that kind of build.

Warrior Tabi and Jotunn's Wrath are both quite necessary on Thor providing that needed power and some utility so I have absolutely nothing to say against it.

Here comes the debatable part; let's start with Heartseeker. I have generally quite a low opinion on this item nowadays, but there's some reasoning behind it in this particular build; even more movement speed, some physical power and its passive cooperating greatly with Hastened Fatalis: I was positively suprised, and while I normally wouldn't think about buying it, I shall give it a try on next occasion.

Deathbringer- well the 20% crit is a slight bonus, but the problem with it is that it's too low of a chance to be reliably helpful- take a look at the hunters for example; if they build crit it normally comes in form of 2 items, to add to that reliability: You know what I'm saying. However with decent attack speed thanks to Fatalis these crits happen, not very frequently, but still. On the other hand, it provides 50 power, of which the build would be lacking if not for this item. But then again, I believe Transcendence would fulfill such need for power even better. All in all, I can't clearly say if it's a correct item choice. (oh and it's quite expensive, too)

Lastly, Runeforged Hammer... (you shall never be forgotten, situational S2 brother)
When season 3 was coming out I was really interested in this item, and have done some experimenting, as I had hoped that its passive would under some circumstances proc on multiple ability ticks. But nothing like that happened. In my opinion this item is currently just straightforwardly bad- it gives some power but the damage from the passive is abysmal. And 200 hp isn't much of a help with absolutely no defences. That's the only item I would replace with something else without hesitation.

So, as You said that this build lacked survivability (and in my opinion would also make use of more CDR): what about replacing Runeforged Hammer with Spirit Robe then? Thor would benefit greatly from this item, or in case when you are not afraid of magical damage at all, then Breastplate of Valor would also be a great choice. Whatever the choice, extra cooldowns and some defences will be more of a help than the Hammer's passive at least 90% of the time.

Taking everything into account, I definitely can see this build having some potential; aspecially on Arena, and it simply looks like fun. As I said though, I would strongly recommend getting rid of that Runeforged Hammer and replacing it with some defence.

Fatalis, Deathbringer, Runeforged and Heartseeker are literally garbage. Thor needs some defenisve items, like a Spirit Robe. For damage, Thor needs power and pen. Titans bane, Brawler's Beatstick and Jotuuns are great choices.
