Thor Build

Core BUILD

Build Item Transcendence Transcendence
Build Item Warrior Tabi Warrior Tabi
Build Item Jotunn's Wrath Jotunn's Wrath
Build Item Breastplate of Valor Breastplate of Valor
Build Item Stone Cutting Sword Stone Cutting Sword
Build Item Rage Rage

Why use these items:

Why? This stacks, and is useful because Thor is mana hungry. This will also fit with the build.
Why? This is your basic starter for the match. IT gives your power for early game. After transcendence is even more powerful.
Why? This will combine power with transcendence with the mana, early game penetration. And this is useful because your ultimate will take 90 seconds cooldown. This will reduce cooldown.
Why? This gives extra mana and combines with transcendence, gives you full cooldown. And since his 3 is powerful already, maybe grab a protection. You scrub.
Why? The passive of this item combined with your own passive. Do the maths: 3 Hits = Full Item Stacked 30 Physical Protection down, with your own passive. 30 Physical Damage. That means you add 60 extra damage to your basic attacks, and this penetrates through armor which means your ultimate does 200 extra damage. Your 1 does 150 extra damage with both hits, and your 3 does 10 more damage per tick.
Why? This gives your a chance against tanks, and with your stone cutting sword maybe even kill a tank. This also comes with physical power.

Pro's Con.

PROS:

    HIGH SINGLE TARGET DAMAGE
    PENETRATION THROUGH ARMOR
    GOOD AGAINST TANKS
    FAST SPEED WITH GOOD ESCAPE
PHYSICAL PROTECTION TO SURVIVE PHYSICAL GODS
FULL BUILD = NO MORE MANA HUNGRY
    FAST COOLDOWN ULT: 54secs
    YOU LOOK SWAG

CONS:
SQUISHY AGAINST HIGH AREA DAMAGE MAGES, SUCH AS ANUBIS.
CAN ONLY BE USED IN ARENA, WHO USES DEFENSE IN JOUST FOR THOR?

Skills

Hey this is my first guide, of course it wouldn't be too good. But I hope the build worked.

Hi KapootaG,

Welcome. I haven't tried out the build but think I have some viable feedback just looking at it.

The build as a whole isn't bad. You've got solid reasoning behind a lot of it. I just don't think it's very optimal, based on a few things.
  1. Transcendence: Thor is absolutely mana hungry, especially early on. That said, in building a stacking item, you're competing with the rest of your team to build those stacks, and your wave clear isn't the best. Just based on that, I don't think this is good for him in the Arena setting.

  2. Cost: If you've used this build sequence, have you ever completed all 6 items? You're looking at a total cost of 14,390 gold. That's a lot. Unless you're extremely fed, I'm thinking you'll be lucky to finish 5 items before the game ends. In Arena, it's always good to consider cost, as you want to be able to build items as quickly as possible to make yourself the most effective, since the game is so short.

  3. Ability or Basic Attack?: You're maxing CDR, which is for abilities, and Thor is definitely an ability-based god. I see no problems there. However, your last two items are dependent on basic attacks...and although Thor can do damage there, you're making him more of a hybrid, which decreases his effectiveness on both sides.

  4. Penetration: Based on above, you've got Jotunn's Wrath providing just a bit of penetration. Then, at item #5, you've got Stone Cutting Sword which stacks some protection reduction, but again, is perhaps not the best item on him, as it requires stacking via basic attacks. Unless you build up those stacks first, your abilities aren't going to do as much damage. As such, most Thor builds incorporate Titan's Bane, which is definitely the better item for him.

As such, 3 of the items are pretty much core ( Warrior Tabi, Jotunn's Wrath, Breastplate of Valor), but the other 3 items, or at least 2 of the 3, should be replaced to make him more effective. My opinion, take it or leave it...hope this helps.
